There he just called out all those hate groups.  Is he still a racist?
Yep, just named the KKK, Neo Nazis, White Supremacist specifically...Way better speech than Obama's dodging when BLM was setting Baltimore on fire...not that I'm a "trumpito" or anything.
How do you know blm was setting fires?
    Um...Where were you last year???
Were the people setting fires part of organized blm?
Power was there to check their BLM ID cards.

You guys don't think that after that condemnation speech has altered your perception of him a little?  I think it was a very great thing doing that.  Calling out those hate groups.

but his first statement, which you seem to be ignoring, he specifically avoided mentioning those groups, and called out "hate on both sides". you don't think this speech today was 100% damage control?

My questions now are who wrote it and who influenced him enough to read it?

Let's see 36 hours no mention from the President of the Nazi white supremacist group's violence. On the the other hand in less than an hour he calls out the CEO of Merck an African American businessman.

What do think those white supremacists are thinking or feeling today?

For me I think they're saying the MFing President has our backs.....high fives.

    Peace
Here is what I was referring to in a post yesterday about "radical Islamic terror" and hypocrisy.
Trump is famous for asking Obama and whoever else, to condemn radical islamic terror(ism), Im para-phasing, how can you defeat it if you cant even say it. Trump campaigned on that phrase, saying it over and over. How stupid is it to think that saying radical islamic terror will somehow help solve it? Terrorists with their ears to Obama are suddently going to stop plowing into crowds and blowing up nightclubs if/when Obama says the words "radical islamic terror".
Since charlottesville, everyone and their brother wants Trump to condemn specifically Nazis and the KKK because Im guessing by specifically saying KKK and Nazi Trump will suddenly rip the hate from there hearts and minds and they will trade in their Nazi flags for rainbow ones. It completely stupid on all sides. Its this a form of symptom blaming and not problem solving.
I dont know how to stop racism, you cant ignore but you cant suppress their speech either.

Is racism all of a sudden a threat to our democracy? Should we take to the streets to raise awareness that white supremacists are racist? Should we protest that our president didnt condemn violence enough, by mentioning Nazis and the KKK?

You're missing a huge aspect of this. trump himself is a white supremacist and has white supremacists working with him in the White House. Therefore the threat trump poses to democracy is actual.
Maybe I am missing the point but I do not recall Trump ever being called a white supremacist/racist in his entire life until he ran against Democrats, he was a fairly public figure with a TV show for however many years. Im not a Trump life expert, I never paid much attention to him outside of his Atl City casinos and his purchase of a Jupiter golf club.

Would you put more stock in Trump calling out David Duke unprompted 17 years ago or would you put more stock in Trump now as president? I would guess he has more to gain politically if he called him out now, he had nothing to gain 17 years ago. If he is was racist why would he call out Duke unprompted, he wasnt even asked about Duke specifically.

I don't see how this white supremacy is anymore of a threat to our democracy now then 5 or 10 years ago. As I said I would have thought it would have been a bigger problem with Obama in the WH.
Regarding your bolded statement, check out this article.

     https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/28/us/politics/donald-trump-housing-race.html

    Correct dated Aug 27, 2016

I already gave my spiel on this awhile back. I'm not sure who was at fault there but Trump cannot be without blame. Unfortunately, back then 1960 and 1970s landlords didn't have credit scores and the ways to fairly assess ability to pay. We would be fools to think that skin color was not a factor in determining creditworthiness and ability to pay rent. I argued that landlords only concern themselves with 3 things, rent payments, rent payments and rent payments. If a goat pays its rent on time, month after month, they are solid gold in the eyes of a landlord. If you ask a racist landlord, which he would prefer, a minority that pays their rent on time all the time or a white person that doesnt, they will take the minority 8 days a week.
Im not sure this is a strong case for racism more so a typical money lusting business man.

Again for a public figure that has dealt with many many people over the years I would tend to think his racist tendencies would show thru more than once or twice, especially in more recent years.

I think instead of making an immediate off the hip speech right after the tragic event happened would have been lost on so many.  No one cares what a politician says during an extreme time of hate/mourning/pain.  After a few days for everything to sink in and emotions a little ( I say a little) less heated the people who the message was intended for were in a better position to receive it.  You can't react to everything at every second and expect your message to be heard.  It's like people that constantly post in one thread.  Eventually people don't read them. So to answer no I don't think it was damage control.

Like someone else said: too little, too late.  He should've called them out Saturday.  At the very latest it should've been his first statement when he woke up yesterday.  The white supremacist groups already took his initial statement as "he wasn't talking about us, he said all sides."
He's just saying it now because he has to, not because he wants to.

how is that a great point? his comments 2 days apart contradict each other. the first was obviously from his puny brain, the second was probably written by Ivanka.

I don't ever recall a sitting president saying nothing about a major event to "let the events sink in".

I was in a hotel room full of young black people getting ready for a wedding when that sorry sack of shit had the audacity to bring up Barack Obama during the Saturday speech.  Everyone there will remember that.

Here's some Breaking News for you PJFan...people don't like him.
