Silly me. When I first glanced at the title, I thought this article said "Donald Trump Defends Global Maternal Health Organization", but no. No, it was "Defunds", as in cuts funding to an organization that improves maternal health around the world and prevents abortions by providing health education and safe contraception, thus proving once again that the Republicans aren't actually pro-life; they're anti-women.
Well, I think it would have helped if I had included the link.... Sorry.

The worst Syrian gas attack in years took place and Spicer took to the podium to blame the Obama administration. This ignores the statements made last week by Haley and Tillerson which essentially gave Assad free reign without the threat of any consequence.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on a trip to Turkey that the "longer-term status of President Assad will be decided by the Syrian people." And in New York, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley was even stronger about the Trump administration's decision not to push for Assad's departure. "Our priority is no longer to sit and focus on getting Assad out," Haley told wire reporters last week, according to AFP. "Do we think he's a hindrance? Yes," she said. "Are we going to sit there and focus on getting him out? No."
At least McCain is standing up and making clear that the Trump team's lack of a plan or policy in Syria is contributing to the situation.
In statement Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer called the attack "reprehensible" and "intolerable," but declined to specify how the U.S. would respond. He also pushed some of the responsibility onto Obama, who left office 75 days ago, for his administration's unfulfilled 2012 "red line" warning to the Assad regime on the use of chemical weapons.
“Today’s chemical attack in Syria against innocent people, including women and children, is reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world," Spicer said. "These heinous actions by the [Assad] regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution. President Obama said in 2012 he would establish a red line against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing. The United States stands with our allies across the globe to condemn this intolerable act.”
Blaming Obama on this one is not completely off base.
That said, Tillerson ignoring questions and basically no substantive statement from the administration is obviously troubling...
Troubling because of the Russian connections? Back channels and billions of dollars in money flows? Or troubling because Trump and his ilk have not a fucking clue?
But hey, he's getting sucked into Yemen. Brilliant.

Ha, yeah, all of that and the fact that Trump pretty much said he wants Assad in power, potential for communication with Assad, etc.

For once ISIS agrees with the rest of the world. And they highlight a troubling problem: Trump is definitely making America look weak (and is actually making America weaker for real, IMO), which will likely encourage extremists. Hit 'em when they're down, right?

lol we still have more than three yrs left of this I can't wait to see what this country looks like after we get done winning so much ...
We'll all be sleeping, so, so, so very tired from all the winning we'll be.
Hey, but Mike Pence has an Instagram account now. Who all follows him?
Vice President Mike Pence is now on Instagram. For up-to-date photos, follow VP here.
I'm not allowed to look at it if my wife isn't in the room with me.
Right?! So Trump selects a VP who either can't control his urges or out of some made up religious sense can't sin against his spouse by dining with other women without her? What's next? A Christian version of the Burqua? Anyway, help me understand this, is he afraid of sinning or is it some self imposed religious obligation? Or is it a dog whistle to his far right second coming Christian conservatives?

It's the world progressives have created. When Rolling Stone magazine can turn any man into a rapist only a fool would put themselves in a compromising position. Personally I will not meet with a female student behind closed doors and I never drive a female baby sitter home. All it takes is one accusation to ruin a life and/or career.

Please. No one said anything about private dining or "behind closed doors." More far right paranoia and alt right reality made up in your mind. Guess you can't be trusted either?

And in your mind, all women are potential accusers. How do you get through the day? In an educational environment no less?

First you don't know that and second it is not "fear". Any intelligent person needs to recognize the media landscape we are in and the quick rush to judgement that is occuring across politics, businesses and campuses every single day. We live in a world where privileged white men are promoters and/or enablers of rape culture and guilt will be decided before any trial. This doesn't downplay or dismiss real sexual assault when it occurs but any intelligent person would make sure that they are not in the position to be accused. One must act defensively. Lastly it is the height of all ridiculousness that the AMT can declare that the Clinton marriage is nobody's business but that the Pence marriage with it's pretty innocent ground rules is open to ridicule. Classic AMT insanity.
