You know how he can win in 2024? He's way too dumb to think of this himself so it won't happen, but he should come out 100% in favor of the legalization of marijuana. Take one left-leaning policy that nobody is overly against, hijack it, and turn it against the Democrats. They currently have the congress and the presidency, and yet nothing has happened on this front. Trump should (won't, again, because he's dumb) argue that.....
-It should be legal everywhere. Enough with doing it state by state.
-It can be our number one export ("We have the greatest farmers and farmland and they're tremendous and blah blah blah)
-We tax the hell out of it and the money made off it can be put towards [insert good reason to spend tax dollars here]
-We commute all the sentences of non-violent marijuana possession prisoners. On all levels. Kamala Harris, as attorney general of California, put thousands of black guys in jail for petty marijuana convictions. Suddenly, the "white supremacist" is letting black dudes out of the jail, when the "woman of of color" was putting them in.
A president doesn't have a magic wand to do all this, but it's what he can push for. He needs something new than the usual rhetoric he's spewed for the past six years.

Well I call it "left-leaning" in that I feel that if either party was ever going do do this, it'd be the Democrats. But they haven't, so Trump could hijack it. It would never be something that the GOP would push to the forefront, but it's also something they wouldn't want to battle Trump on.myoung321 said:

Traditionally, Dems are a bit more sympathetic to legalization than the GOP. Of course, Libertarians have probably evened out the left/right split a bit. But I'd argue that of those three parties/labels only True* Libertarians are unlikely to be scared to actually make it happen when given the chance...on a big stage, anyway. I think there are some older conservative people (an important part of the GOP base) that are against legalization but really, I don't see pushing for it derailing anyone's campaign. I tend to agree with Ledbetterman...Trump should rail like a madman (and it's not like he has the practice) about how it should happen and the Dems are not making it. "States rights?" Please, the GOP and their voters only like states rights when it's convenient.
*Most self-professed Libertarians just jump on the GOP-wagon (see; Paul, Rand)1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

True.....but...How'd that work out in Obama's 8 years? ( he had a majority in congress the first 2 years...could have passed anything)OnWis97 said:Traditionally, Dems are a bit more sympathetic to legalization than the GOP.
Just because they act like it, doesn't mean they are.. Actions say otherwise.. like the Drug Prescription prices...Minimum wage...etc...etc..
I don't think they care about States Rights... they care about upsetting donors like Big Pharma and other industries (Textiles, Paper etc..) that will hurt their profit margins and control..
Read up on why Randolph Hearst pushed "Reefer Madness" to save his logging and paper empire.

Exactly. That’s why it’s ripe for Trump to say they’ve been talking about it forever, I’m going to do it. But again, he’s too dumb think of this. An adviser could probably pitch it to him simply as “Rappers might start giving you shout outs again” and that’d be enough to convince him. But his advisors are also, of course, dumb.myoung321 said:
