Get ready for higher grocery costs and a housing construction slow down.
Do migrant farmers get H1B1s?  That would surprise me.  This will affect Inidans, Chinese and other white collar workers, I would guess.  During the recession, many companies stopped sponsoring these.  My former company did the same.  It was considered risky to sponsor a lot of these while unemployment was 10%.
I thought they fell under Hb2s which are included in the ban but those are construction and hospitality related, maybe? So construction but not farming. Confusing as hell but I guess Team Trump Treason is still trying to salvage his disastrous farm policy. I’m not sure I even referenced the construction visas properly. Its Monday.

how about..all of them.. I guess I just figured a good chunk of the migrant farmers were here illegally already.

The freeze applies to H-1B visas designed for high-skilled workers, particularly in the tech industry, and H-2B visas used by seasonal workers, such as in the construction and hospitality industries. Others that are impacted are H-4 visas given to spouses of H-1B visa holders; L-1 visas for executives who work for large corporations; and some J-1 visas for scholars and professors.

I used to work in academic research, and we used H1Bs for several positions, from clinical and lab research, to IT.  They're a bit of a pain to process and there are lots of moments for scrutiny, but overall I learned a lot about the type of people on H1Bs.  The majority were brilliant and were doing amazing work here.  I thought H2s referred to spouses/family of H1Bs, but I might be thinking of J1s and J2 visas.

I will say this though about the media.  I think they clearly have twisted Trump's words on the testing comments lately.  I think it is clear that Trump is saying the US has more cases because we test more and that when he says if we didn't test we would have less reported cases.  He is all about comparing to other countries.  The media and late night comedians are disingenuous in claiming Trump thinks if we didn't test than there would be no cases.

I can't stand Trump but the media should do better.   When they twist words to fit their narrative it just gives the right more to be angry about.

he clearly stated, and i watched the entire clip, that he wanted the testing to be slowed down so the numbers would go down. slowed testing=more deaths. that isn't leftist propaganda. that's a direct contextual quote and it's fucking disgusting.

Oh for sure.  I guess I was only pointing out that it's a shame these people are cut off for the time being from coming to the US and helping us in various ways.

As long as Trump's in office they ARE America and we (or at least I) am not.  And if Trump wins (well, fairly) then this absolutely is their country.

if someone is on the verge of drowning and you prevent someone from throwing them a way to stay afloat, like with a life preserver or something, does that make you a murderer?

Probably would be ruled second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter.

How about if the American people were in danger from a killer virus and you tried to prevent them from easily getting a test for a diagnosis so they could get treatment and maybe not infect others who might also die, by walking around in public? Is that similar?

i knew this was where you were going, but it wouldn't hold up. that slippery slope would eventually land at cutting funds to medicare, which would be a major stretch.

is he ethically bankrupt? no question. but merely telling his supporters that he told his people to slow down testing? no.
