    There's a great play by an English playwright titled The Madness of George III. It was adapted for the screen a few years after it's stage premiere, and the director decided to change the title to the equally great film to The Madness of King George so that Americans wouldn't be confused and think they needed to see The Madness of George I and The Madness of George II before enjoying The Madness of George III.
    Well after we've suffered through Covids 1-18, you can understand how we can easily get confused.

    You're saying that in Britain it was released as a film as King George III and only changed for the American release?  Or did the director say that it was only changed for Americans?  This sounds like a joke that turned into truth.

    It was changed widely (but mainly for Americans).

    The director mentioned that he wanted it to be obvious that the play was about royalty as well.
