I assume this wraps up before 12am?

I wouldn't bet on this. It starts at 7 (in theory) and the ones I went to in Cleveland were at LEAST 6 hours long. Each artist has someone give an induction speech, and the the artist speeches, video, performances, and then in between production changes etc.
6 hours? That would be brutal to sit through. I hope you're wrong!

Last years ceremony on hbo was like 2.5 hours. No doubt they edit this down though.

Hopefully they release a schedule at some point soon. Have they provided a schedule for previous ceremonies?

They usually edit out a significant amount for the TV broadcast. I went in 2012 and about half of it was gone when it eventually aired, it was over 5 hours live, 2&1/2 or 3 on TV, pretty sure some performances were cut out too. Not sure if they ever release a schedule, but usually the biggest act has been on last so it's probably PJ this year. I've heard from people who have gone to the last 2 at Barclays that they've been at least 5 hours long but they start right on time which is good. You can't really anticipate how long speeches are going to be, and you have bands like Yes where 9 people are getting inducted, so no way to get a good idea of timing. At least there's plenty of room in there for bathroom breaks.

Definitely hit up 4th Ave. pub. Unless you are ordering Bud Lite or something like that. It's my favorite bar in the city and it's amazing. Gets a little nuts before shows though. Great beer selection and great staff. Backyard should be open.

Less crowded option is St. Gambrinus which is a block or two away and excellent beers.
Also the Kings Beer Hall is good and only a few blocks away.

Minimum of 5 hours is going to be difficult, especially in the small seats at Barclays. I think I'm going to stay outside and get dinner, head in around 9. We have a few friends who are going in right away, I'll tell to text me if PJ isn't the last band and they go on earlier. Lol.

Is traffic really an issue in that area or did I just have bad luck? I've been to a few Nets games on weekdays and every time (around 6pm), it takes me about 40mins-1hr to go a mile on Flatbush from the BQE to my go-to parking deck a couple blocks from Barclays. Driving from South NJ

You're driving into Brooklyn at rush hour. That's par for the course on a week day.

Concur. Consider NJ transit and transfer to the 2/3, goes right to Barclays.

4th ave pub is my go to. Quaint little spot.

I will be attending an LCD Soundsystem show instead so everyone else enjoy the evening and I'll see you on the flip side!

Yes. Some have limited service but you'll get back one way or another.

4/5, B,D, N, Q, R will all lead you by or really close to Penn.

I estimate my arrival anywhere between 5pm-6pm

I'm taking the thruway and am curious: once I turn South past Albany should I stick with the thruway all the way down or should I take the Taconic State Pkwy? Trying to gauge where I'd run into less traffic as I arrive closer to the city.
