Any advice for Barclays area before the show?

my2handsmy2hands Posts: 17,117
edited March 2017 in The Porch
Any advice for cool things to do or see within walking distance of Barclays in Brooklyn? Any suggestions for food? Anything iconic or must see? Just looking to kill a few hours. Not interested in bars

Also tips for parking are appreciated as well

Thanks!

I'm really hoping we get a nice spring day. My buddy and I are planning to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge from his place in lower Manhattan.

Depends what your looking to do. Barclays is pretty close to Prospect Park which is a huge beautiful park. Tons of great restaurants around Park Slope. Also Barclays is right off a major Subway tunnel so easy to get to and from from other parks of the city quite quickly.

Hoping for a Pre-RNRHOF gig somewhere. Would love to see the event at Barclays but sitting thru Journey would be terribly painful...

I use ParkWhiz and pick a lot, pre pay and your guaranteed a spot. I paid 50 bucks for 12 hours which is still cheaper than paying for 2 people to take the train and the subway from CT!
There are $30 lots for the event (which I think they consider 6pm - 11pm) but I'm hitting up Wishlist for a bit and I don't want to go over that time limit if they finish late.

ParkWhiz is fantasitc. The other day I secured a spot a 20 minute walk away from Barclays for the ceremony (enter after 4:30pm, exit before 4:30am) @ $15 less a $5 credit for $10 total. Not too shabby.

ParkWhiz will let you cancel a reservation and credit your card back (just follow up - once they forgot to and I had to email) so you can book elsewhere.

You can tell a bands fans are getting old when the preshow conversation is about who has the best parking spot.

Two Toms' on Third Avenue is an awesome hole in the wall restaraunt I went to before Brooklyn II in '13. The pork chop dinner is one of the best you'll find anywhere & Jose was a top notch host.

Pretty good BBQ. Haven't been to the Brooklyn location but I've been to the original in Syracuse and the Troy location quite a few times. Usually pretty busy so if you're planning on going before the ceremony, try to get a reservation

I wouldn't bet on this. It starts at 7 (in theory) and the ones I went to in Cleveland were at LEAST 6 hours long. Each artist has someone give an induction speech, and the the artist speeches, video, performances, and then in between production changes etc.
