Columbia SC show is selling way better than I thought it would!

I was having my doubts that PJ could draw a big crowd in columbia, but after 5 hours the floor and entire lower level of the arena is sold out! All they have are nosebleeds. Mabey 10club reserved a crapload more seats, I don't know, but its good to see.

I think the last two big acts to pass through SC were Joe Walsh and American Idol,

probably high time for a "real" bunch of musicians to get through that state.

Hey, i'm not really knocking Joe Walsh, either.

And the closest available seats are in section 205. It looks like they are selling pretty well.

I bought 4 tix at 10:01am yesterday, 1 minute after they went on sale. I chose the 'best available' option, and got section 104, row 25. I was like, "WTF?!?!?!?!?" but I bought them anyway because I was afraid if I released them I'd end up with something even worse.

PJ played before 18-20k in Knoxville, TN in 1998. Part of the reason I find it comical when some on this board say that PJ can't draw in the south.

That was 1998 but in 2003 the could only half fill the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte & St Pete Times Forum in Tampa, which begs the question why they're playing the later this year. Noblesville was a similar story. Similar in Houston where they played 2 nights in 2000 at the Cynthia Wood Mitchell Pavilion but could only sell 11,500 in 2003.

Ticketmaster rarely releases all the best seats in the house at the same time. If you keep checking back I am sure you will find better seats available before the show. I almost guarantee it...

Where did you get your information about Charlotte in 2003? I was there and as I recall it sold out..........definitely not "half full."

I was in Charlotte 2000 and 2003. I go to Dave Matthews shows there every year too. There was no way that the show was only half full. There was as many people there as there are for the DMB shows easily. Now, Greensboro in 2000 was not that full. There were tons of empty seats in the upper level. Also, I was at Knoxville and Greenville in 1998 and both of those were very full. Those were good shows. I cannot wait for Columbia. I should be close with my 10C tickets. See you all there.

Same thing in Birmingham..98 was around 15k but 03 was only 7-8k. From talking to non-fanatics in 03..most of them had no clue PJ was even playing here that night. I think '03 partly was due to lack of advertising about it.

Interesting 2 of you who were at the show are saying the same thing yet the below source states it was only half full. Seems a pretty reliable source too but maybe they got there wires crossed with another show?

    http://www.allbusiness.com/retail-trade/miscellaneous-retail-retail-stores-not/4636182-1.html

"There were some soft spots on the tour. The April 5 show at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Selma, Texas, sold 12,219 of the available 20,000 seats. And 9,392 arrived April 16 for the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater show in Charlotte, N.C., which is a little less than half of its 18,800 capacity."

"Fans are showing a decreasing appetite for Pearl Jam's album releases, which makes the band's 2003 road results that much more impressive."

Yea, there is absolutely no way that Charlotte was half full for that 2003 show. I have been to every DMB show since 1998 there. Next to the DMB shows, the Pearl Jam shows and the Coldplay show were the most full that I have been out there. I was there for Aerosmith a couple of years ago and the back of the lawn was empty. Oh well. Grennville was a great show and was full. My tickets were behind the stage because that he all we could get. I cannot wait for Columbia. I have not seen them since Ashville on the VFC tour. Almost four years, which is way too long!

Two Feet Thick also has the attendance at 9,392 for the Charlotte show in 2003. However, I was also there and it seemed like a lot more than that. I don't think it was completely full, but I would have guesstimated that it was about 80% full (16,000 in attendance). I'm thinking that nobody ever really got accurate attendance figures.

I have no idea how many of you are in the Columbia area, probably not many, but 93.5 has played SO much PJ since this tour has been announced. I'm really enjoying it.........They've always played the biggest, older hits but lately they're playing some of everything.

Yep the below states 14,027 witjh a venue capacity of 14,000. Not sure how they got it so wrong for Charlotte 2003, huge difference between almost/sold out and half full.

Beats me and I'm not saying I know for sure it's wrong. All I'm saying is Charlotte seemed packed out to me, lines waiting for the bathrooms and at the merchandise stands. Also, the crowd energy was incredible!! Plus, on a side note, what a great setlist that night! :)

I've been to shows in Boston, DC and Toronto so I know what a packed show looks like and Charlotte, though smaller than the venues in those cities, seemed quite full.
