I'm thinking he's going to fire the special prosecutor. What happens then? What could be done?

I think that will increase the odds of impeachment as he'd surely lose republican support and congress has said they'd instantly name him to lead an independent counsel to basically finish the job. Trump is fucked.

I sure hope you're right. If the party of Roy Moore won't stop that child molester from joining their ranks or speaking out against it anymore, I can't trust them to do the right thing with anything any longer. They are trying to pass a tax bill that will hurt the powerless among us and screw future generations with more debt. Again, I can't trust them to do anything honorable.

That was really good; especially the ending. If that's what it's going to take to get the Russians out of our democracy and government, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for that to happen. They are not our friends. Thanks, Halifax.

I think Trump needs to honorably resign now, with some dignity still in tact, sometime soon after the new year or else it looks like a messy impeachment is in the works.  I think the Republicans and the Trump Nazis need to swallow their pride and resign this presidency.  It seems to me that some of the two-faced, blue-collar Republicans have been wanting Pence as president over Trump since election day anyway, right?  They've just been tolerating Trump and all his contradictions and mistakes.   But it seems he did come through on some stuff they elected him for, so why don't they just all focus on the good this past year and let the man finally bow out----the man that, in my opinion, they used like a guinea pig to push their Republican agenda through.   I wish Trump had a way of knowing that he has done some good, so now just take a well-deserved break, and let the Republicans do more of the damage that they do in this country.  I don't agree with much of what the man said this year, but I think if he doesn't gracefully bow out soon, then they're going to destroy him and many others with this investigation of the election.  Why are they still putting up a fight?  I know Trump has a huge ego and power trip thing going on, but seriously?   Why become a villain, Trump?  Why not just get out now?   He's seen all year how impossible this country  is to please.   Why not just let them dig their own graves?  This country has already been doing it for decades now.  Putting up a fight is going to make no difference to this world.  He had a good run, now get out of the way.   Let them fuck up their own country the only way they know how.

Because, "there was no collusion," "I have nothing to hide," and "I don't have any business in or with Russia, no loans, nothing."

Pence is at least rational and wouldn't be the daily embarrassment that Trump is. His policies on the other hand..................

Often is also applying rational thought and sympathy to narcissism. I gave up on that with trump a long time ago. He will only leave if he is in a situation where he thinks he’s moving on to something better. When someone’s used to so much winning, they just can’t turn off the winning.

You lost me at "some dignity still intact". Trump appears to have none.
yeah i thought the same thing , what dignity is left ? and he says let them fuck up their own country up ! when in fact the orange bafoon is the one who has done more damge to this country then anyone else this poster must be a supporter of the orange one ...
I'm not a supporter of the orange one.  I voted for Clinton but would have voted Sanders.  I'm just trying to be nice, trying to give the benefit of the doubt in a bad situation to a horrible man.  This problem is such an easy fix.   They've been threatening him all year with dirt they have on him about the Russians and the election.  Now there is solid evidence.  He can't get out of this.  Both the Democrats and the Republicans want him out.  He should just do the right thing and get out of the way for a change.  I saw someone say that he won't leave unless he has something better to go to.  So maybe the Dems and the Repubs behind all this scheming and planning need to make a good deal with him and meet him halfway?  Don't really know how all the richies make their deals and all the lies involved, but I'm sure they can come up with something, in the same fashion that Trump had all those people quit on his staff this year.  Now it seems he's come to the end of his road as president.    I won't explain me commenting on how bad the country has fucked itself up.   We don't have enough food, water, oxygen, etc. to sustain this planet or its over-population.  We all, they all, have had centuries to work on caring for the earth that cares for us, giving back what we take, and now the climate change is catching up to all of us.   But instead, the over-payed, spoiled congressmen and women, the press, etc., we still just all fight with each other, and throw millions of dollars away on these elections, and never really work out the differences.  I realize it starts in smaller communities too, but sometimes it feels like we're all at end of this crazy circus of a world, and why would that be so bad?  Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing if God cleaned the slate?

Well, I hope he doesn't drive the whole country over a cliff.  I hope they can work it out somehow.  I realize that's easier said than done.  If so many of these Republicans weren't in denial or under some kind of mind control maybe some bipartisan understanding could take place.  Its astonishing to me how, on the news, they just said that the entire Republican Party stands behind Roy Moore...mind-blowing.  They're calling all those ladies liars or just saying they don't care.  Its like Nazi Germany on a U.S. scale.

Trump can't directly fire Mueller people. Only the attorney general who appointed him can and has to have cause to fire him. Since Sessions reclused himself that falls to Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein.  Trump would have to fire Rosenstein, appoint someone else  and have him fire Mueller.

thanks for the clarification. but why would he have to fire Rosenstein and replace him to get Mueller fired?

Because Rosenstein has gone on record saying he won't fire Mueller without cause. So the only legal way to fire Mueller by Trump would be to fire Rosenstein, appoint someone who would agree to find cause on Mueller as the new Deputy Attorney General.  It's why Trump was so pissed Sessions reclused himself.   Trump and his legal team will try to find other avenues other than firing Mueller. they are already trotting out the defense that the President can't obstruct justice.  Whatever happens I expect a shit show once Mueller gives up the goods on Trump.

House Votes Down Trump Impeachment Resolution
But 58 Democrats voted for impeachment.

WASHINGTON ― Fifty-eight House Democrats voted to advance the impeachment of President Donald Trump on Wednesday, in direct defiance of the pleas of House Democratic leaders earlier in the day.

A vote to table the impeachment resolution was agreed to 368-58, with four Democrats voting present and 126 other Democrats voting with Republicans to kill the resolution.

It may seem like this was an overwhelming confirmation of Trump ― and it was, in the sense that no Republican voted to advance impeachment and more than two-thirds of Democrats joined their GOP colleagues ― but 58 Democratic votes is still a significant statement on impeachment.
