Actually, that would be very interesting. I honestly don't believe he's lost any support.* It would be interesting to see whether a critical mass of Trump supporters become former Trump supporters. It really seems like whatever happens will be blamed on "fake news" by them. I think we've underestimated just how crazy and embedded into our society this really is. And how angry so many people were that we had a black president. If the do get to the point when the evidence is in our faces, the reasonable ones will accept it. But out of 60 million? I'd say we're talking thousands, not millions.MayDay10 said:OnWis97 said:I don't think impeachment's going to happen, but let's suppose he does get impeached. The 60 million people who voted for Trump are going to be angrier than they were when we had a black president. They'll double down. 2020 Preferential Election Winner: Richard Spencer.
I would think if they went down that road, there would be pretty sufficient evidence presented by the Mueller investigation. Many of those 60 Million wouldnt be able to deny and yell 'fake news' at that point... if a Republican Congress is compelled to go through with the impeachment process.
*Not literally "no supporters" but well over 90% of them seem to dig their heels in harder and harder every time something unprofessional, sinister, potentially treasonous, or incompetent comes out.
How could it be blamed on "fake news" if, under this scenario, the special counsel provides clear evidence that would cause congress to start impeachment proceedings or ask him to resign? If there's a mountain of evidence uncovered and these Trump supporters cannot handle it, then fuck them. They're not real Americans if they would still support Trump at that point.
EVERYTHING that says anything bad about Trump is immediately dismissed as "fake news." We're near the point at which a third of this country won't believe anything that does not come from Breitbart, Fox News, and Trump's Twitter account.
If Trump ends up getting removed...you'll have no trouble finding comments that say "the President was literally impeached because of fake news." It would be hilarious. Most of them will never drop their support for Trump. Never. No matter what he does or how much worse he makes their lives.
I encounter people like that all the time. Right now his approval is at 40%, only Ford was lower at this point in his term.Once the investigation is over and hard evidence is presented, of course there will still be lemmings who claim it's all fake.....but I guarantee that approval will plummet even further into somewhere in the 20's at that point. Those 40% are not all irrational idiots. A lot of them just don't want to believe what is being reported until the investigation has been completed. And if/when you have republican leadership telling the president to resign or risk impeachment....there's not much more a rational human being can say at that point. Gonna take a long time to get there, most likely. But it's coming.
It looks like we are already at about 10% of his voters are turned off. Still amazing that he has >80% support in his base... but 10% is a death knell if that holds. Especially considering you can expect considerable motivation for 'everybody else' to show up at the voting booth to end this circus....
And yeah, if Republican Congress did act, pass through the House, and 2/3 of congress, I would bet we would have been presented some pretty airtight and compelling evidence.0 -

I would agree with this......I've a close friend who met and ate with Trump at Mar a Lago several times before he was President. From those interactions feels Trump is the best thing that has happened to America to this date. No matter what has happened or is going come down the line I don't see her and her friends changing any thought process as to what he is doing to this country or will do in the future. They will stay devoted to him and blame it like he will on others.....FAKE NEWS!OnWis97 said:

DOn't underestimate that willingness to call real news fake news. I saw some people online this morning saying that the Russian lawyer/Trump Jr. emails are fake news, and the fact that Trump Jr. himself posted the emails made absolutely no difference to those people, lol. They are not anywhere near the realm of rationality at this point, and I figure once you get to that point it is pretty hard to get back to reality. The Juggler said:OnWis97 said:

Pence is horrible, but at least with him the Trump gong show would be over. Just the general nature of Trump and his fucked up family are really terrible for everyone and America's reputation. Pence won't do anything good, and will likely do some bad shit too, mostly against women, but at least he won't serve up total and complete buffoonery on a daily basis to the entire fucking world, and at least he's not an actual fascist. I used to be more scared of Pence than Trump, but that was before I understood just how insane and ridiculous Trump really was.Go Beavers said:
