Homemade Pearl Jam 7" and 10" Vinyl Crates

Decided to build a 7" and 10" crate, since I was unable to purchase the official PJ releases. They are made of oak and the images are burned in.

Thought I would share the results.

What kind of tool do you use to burn an image into the wood with that level of detail?

I just used a Riteval Woodburning kit that I purchased on Amazon for $18. There are some fine point tips that are in the kit that I used to burn the image that I traced on the wood with a pencil prior.

Sorry I won't be able to sell any of these due to copyright infringement (and time to produce). To be honest these took a few months to do, since I would just work on them when I had some free time.

They are beautiful and I knew that you took a long time to craft them. I admit that I know that plenty of people would want them and it made me think of this:

Those are seriously awesome! As someone who has zero woodworking experience, but is interested in trying to make some myself, can I ask..how did you affix the (3) side pieces to the (2) end boards? Did you use a heavy duty glue? Or are there some kind of internal screws?

There are small screws that I used to attach the sides with. Then used a wood putty to cover the holes. These are made of oak, so you need to drill pilot holes for the screws and a hole for the screw head since oak will crack easily. If you look closely at the pictures you can see where the putty went since it is slightly lighter.
  • Those are awesome. Great Job.
