Would it? With the exception of Calgary, Edmonton/Saskatoon/Winnipeg have only gotten shows during a cross Canada tour. Given that they played Vancouver (Pemberton), Toronto, Ottawa, and Quebec City last summer, what are the odds of a Cross Canada tour this year, when they played most of the major markets last year? Unfortunately PJ touring doesn't often hit the same place two years in a row, nor does it involve playing the smaller Canadian cities only :(

That's how I see it anyways. Just going by history repeating itself, playing the same places twice in two years, or just playing smaller Canadian markets is something PJ doesn't really do.

Camden, NJ and Newark, NJ are different markets. Camden is across the river from Philly (the city skyline over the river is the backdrop for the amphitheater) so I don't think Camden is very likely again. I loved the Newark show in 2010 and would love to see them play there again but it's only a 15 min train ride to MSG, and MSG and Barclays Center in Brooklyn are much bigger than the Newark arena so I don't think that's very likely either.

The east coast had their tour last year. I would highly doubt that any market get a show outside of festivals whether they were played last year or not. The safest bet right now is a smaller version of the tour that happened in 2016 on the west/midwest of NA and a slim chance of a summer Europe tour though I imagine that would have been announced already if it was happening.

  • How in the world is Niagara Falls on that list?! Lol! I mean they'd certainly be welcome here though

Not true. The Barclay's Center in Brooklyn has a lower seating capacity than the Prudential Center in Newark and is the smallest of the three arenas.

  • I'm done checking the boards daily for potential 2017 tour news. If they're working on a new album they will likely want to coincide the tour with the release of that album. It's too late to announce a summer tour. 2014 fall US tour was announced in May. Sit tight everyone.
. . . the in between is mine.

Brooklyn is a borough in New York City. You have cities in the same market under different "odds." Poor job.

    Brooklyn = Barclays Center
    New York City = MSG

Same for Chicago/Lollapalooza. And why Saskatoon and not Winnipeg? Winnipeg gets way more shows than Saskatoon does. Obviously this was just an *exercise to kill time.

Still no legit rumours for this year.
Fair point on Winnipeg. Just as much chance as Saskatoon, if not more. I asked people to chime in with cities I missed, and they are.

And yes, I was killing time :)

    p.s. I fixed "exercise" for ya ;)
  • I don't get how Chicago is a "won't play" but Lollapalooza is a good bet.
personally I hope they never play Lolla again. I don't know why any fan would want them to play a fest at all.

Chicago = an evening with PJ. Most likely United Center. And they already played at Wrigley Field last year. BUT...
Lollapalooza = festival at Grant Park, as co-headliner? Shorter playlist. Different setting. Not a traditional Chicago PJ show :)

It was on the tour map, lol. I have no dog in that hunt :)
  • Not sure they'll be playing Houston or any Texas cities after today's news about the transgender bathroom ruling possibility (the NFL basically said if a law passed like that they wouldn't have any more Superbowls there). My vote is for San Diego. :)

    OOOOOH, good point.

How about Hartford? Preferably the XL center (indoors). It has been 3 1/2 years. They seem to have confused the location with Manchester, Conn.

I went to the Dodge Music Center show in '08 (LEGENDARY show!), but I think the "official" location city changes every time the venue is renamed. It's more Manchester, than Hartford. They sounded way better there, than anything I've heard from the XL Center (the former Hartford Civic Center).

I'm not sure that Vancouver is a real good shot, because they played Pemberton last year. Playing Pemberton is to Vancouver, what playing the Gorge is to Seattle. In fact Pemberton is closer to Vancouver than the Gorge is to Seattle.

On the other hand if they're touring the West Coast there's only so many places to play.

  • Im interested in why you put Voodoo-Fest as a good bet? The band played Jazzfest just this past year. If you truly want to go by odds, the band probably wont play Voodoo again until 2019 if this trend is correct:

    2010: Jazzfest
    2013: Voodoo
    2016: Jazzfest
    2019: ???

Voodoo is usually really good about getting that one rock band that isn't playing many other festivals (Ozzy and friends in 2015, Rage in 2007, etc etc) This year we will probably get Metallica for the first time in NOLA since 2012 as they aren't coming through on their stadium tour, and Voodoo will probably line up with their second run of dates in the fall/winter.

NOLA hasn't had a stadium show since 2003, and in a stadium that doesn't nearly sit as many as the Smoothie King Center.

History doesnt matter with PJ anymore. They broke the Canada and SA same year trend. Anything could happen.

I choose to analyze it differently...
Substantial stops in Canada in 2005
Even more stops in Canada in 2011
One could calculate that 2017 would be another cross-Canada journey!!!
