My friend watched like eight episodes of this show thinking that was Ross from Friends.

Does your friend wear really thick glasses?
    No but he probably should.
This thing put me to sleep about 10 minutes into the first episode.

Re Squid Game — are you all watching with the dubbing or subtitles?

I’m partway through the first episode and the guy is annoying as fuckall. And the dubbing makes me feel like I’m watching “What’s Up, Tiger Lily?”.

I did subtitles. Dubbing rarely is good except once in awhile. Only one I can think of that was good was Akira.

I think the dubbing is fine.  It actually felt a lot more heavy in the first episode, but after awhile, I barely notice it.  I actually kind of like it.

I’m only on the second episode of Squid Game, I doubt I’ll bother with the rest of it. The general concept is ok, but the acting is awful.

I tried watching that. Great sets but just couldn’t get into it.

The new Jake Gyllenhaal movie was hard to get through. Boring in my opinion.  The budget had to have been amazingly cheap because it mostly takes place in one room.

I'm kind of surprised he liked the script enough though.

I did. it's funny, regarding the twist....I sort of called it without knowing I called it when he was on the phone with her. Sorry for being so vague, I don't know how to say it without spoiling it for others.

You should see the original. I think it's a Dutch film? Maybe Swedish? I tried to watch that last year, I couldn't take more than 20 minutes of it - it was soooo sloooowwww. Like, even just the pauses between sentences spoken felt like a week long, haha. They really sped things up for this remake, lol. It was watchable at least.

Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space is very good! It really IS inspiring, as well as super entertaining, fascinating, touching, emotional... it's got it all in a limited series doc!
    Pretty effective soundtrack too.

  • The final episode of squid game ruined the entire series for me. It made me regret watching the show. Also found it too predictable.

Who ever said they turned it off because it's boring, I implore you to stick with it. It's an incredibly slow burn and totally worth it. Also glad I went in with basically no preconception and minimal amount of an idea of what it was about. Honestly, the cinematography and sountrack pulled me in. Then when you see who's creating it you have a rough idea what it's about. Haha, I'll say again - really, really fucking good.

While I thought the show was pretty strong, and its more about the journey, I agree fully on the last episode.  The last 30 minutes or so, really werent needed (I think the second last episode was only 30 minutes too, make that an hour and call it a day!).  I thought the various 'plot points' of the last 30 minutes were terrible and forced, and did diminish the show.

    ***Spoiler

While the show was a bit predictable... I really thought that everyone was going to lose/get killed and their families who were 'victim' of these contestants terrible financial habits would get the payouts.
The 'marbles' thing kind of caught me off guard too.

agreed...although I didn't really find the first episodes boring.  They give you an idea that something odd is going on pretty quick but if you aren't paying attention you'll miss it.

    Great acting.
