Even after the best live Black Diamond I have heard at MSGII, Kiss Alive still is the album all bands must strive to achieve.

Love all of your choices and own them all, but this one defines my childhood.

Kudos to my dad for getting me an extra copy on 8 track so we could listen to it in the car (Even though he was an opera fanatic).

Since we have to wait a week to get Bonnaroo I thought I would throw this question out to all posters. What do you think is the best live official release ever of any band?

The Concert in Central Park (the original one, Sept 19, 1981) by Simon&Garfunkel is unbeatable.

    My Morning Jacket - Okonokos....epic.

it's like there's a concert in my head and everyone's invited

I have a love/hate relationship with that album. The backing band is cheesy as hell, but Bowie's vocals send shivers down my spine. "Sweet Thing" is sublime.

I love David Live, but I think the Ziggy Stardust Motion Picture Soundtrack is better
    "Delight in your youth"

  • my list is:
    1. Allman Brothers at Filmore East
    2. The Who Live at Leeds (got to have the Deluxe edition)
    3. Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert

Live Dead. The boys have been putting out live stuff longer than any band that I know of.This is from 1969.They set the standard of what we have today. With that said Pearl Jam must have been paying attention.Live music is where its at.

Glad to see someone mention that all time greatest live album, LIVE DEAD. The sounds coming out of this thing have been altering my mind for ages. Runners up are Allmans Fillmore East and Little Feat Waiting For Columbus. Both sound just amazing and what a live album should be like.
  • pretty much any metallica live show is great

Well for DMB I would say:

    Live in Chicago 12/19/98
    Central Park 2003
    Piedmont Park '97

And since I pretty much represent FNM here
I would say You Fat B##STARDS! Which is a DVD now.

Weekend on the Rocks 8 disc set I felt was really good.
Anything DMB live with back up singers gets the immediate boot as far as best DMB.

I have an audio rip of the Led Zeppelin DVD and it's pretty fucking badass. In My Time of Dying in particular.
