Since we have to wait a week to get Bonnaroo I thought I would throw this question out to all posters. What do you think is the best live official release ever of any band?
I'll get this started by voting for Dave Matthews Band Red Rocks. That is a sweet album that holds up over time. Second would be Nirvana Unplugged.
Summerfest 95
Alpine Valley 98
Pepsi Center 03

Allman's live at the Fillmore is a classic through & through, I do not deny this.
Duane Allman & Dickey Betts playing on that album is hotter than the devil's shit on the surface of the dark sun.
Def in the Top 10 alltime live albums, if not Top 5!!

Some "also rans" that are kick ass in their own ways that nobody has said yet;
Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense"
Social Distortion: "Live at the Roxy"
Black Crowes and Jimi Page "Live at the Greek"
I can concur with MANY of the already stated albums as well.
Bowie was my choice as well. Also the Almann Bros live at the Filmore East.
"What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." Albert Pine.
David Live is indeed an awesome choice. so many too choose from, i forgot bowie. Also, soundtrack to Ziggy Stardust and Stage are great too.

U2- Evolution
Tori Amos Live in New York (Hot little redheaded woman is positively demonic- One of the greatest living writers)
And I'm Veronica Corningstone, Tits McGee is off tonight...
The best live album of all time was released before c.d's were invented.
It's 'It's Alive' by The Ramones.
Montreal/98, Toronto/00'03'05'06x2, Brad Toronto/02, Buffalo/03, Kitchener/05, London/05, Hamilton/05, Late Show Taping/06, Cleveland/06, Pittsburgh/06, Bridge School Benefit Concert/06, Hartford/08, Mansfield 1/08, EV Montreal/08x2, EV Toronto/08x2...
Also, another good live 'studio' album is Bauhaus' 'Press the eject and give me the tape'.
I have a love/hate relationship with that album. The backing band is cheesy as hell, but Bowie's vocals send shivers down my spine. "Sweet Thing" is sublime.
Live in Chicago 12/19/98
Central Park 2003
Piedmont Park '97
And since I pretty much represent FNM here
I would say You Fat B##STARDS! Which is a DVD now.
