Half(!) of your country voted for this guy. Have fun.

Nice that he started out with flat out lying in his first speech as president.

Half of half . . . About 25%, considering that only about half of the eligible voters went to the polls.
Half of the people voting in your country voted for this guy instead of a sane choice. Have fun.

    :)
Voting for the lesser of two evils, Who by the way were the two most unpopular candidates in US history, does not equate to a good or sane choice.
Over the next month I think more and more people will realize Clinton was actually the lesser of two evils.
The lesser of 2 evils does not equate sane or good.

This isn't really about Trump per se, but it is the biggest deal going right now, and he did talk about pulling the US from the UN, so I wonder if this Bill to do just that is supported by Trump? It was submitted on January 3rd. Even though this one bill would change the country and its position in the world dramatically, and have a huge direct impact on the rest of the world, it went pretty much unnoticed by everyone, i think by design, given the timing and the total lack of attention they drew to it. Btw, it would pull the US from the WHO as well as the UN.

  • So far we've seen about what we expected. This will clearly be the most ridiculous start to an administration. If he doesn't fix it he's going to be the laughing stock of the world.

He's already the laughing stock of the world. We've jumped the shark.

Lesser of two evils, hah! Is that what uncommitted Trump supporters tell themselves? It reminds me of the foot massage discussion from Pulp Fiction. If you haven't seen it, just search it. Samuel Jackson has got it right.

The UN is obsolete. The Syrian genocide is proof. If it can't be reformed it should be abandoned.

Can we at least look at this with an open mind? First of all it's published by the Washington Post. The WP was a biased Clinton advocate pre-election, first of all.

In #2., everything written was fine until you came to this part: "... regarding media that report the truth as fake news". FFS, if anyone believes that the media is an innocent victim in all of this and that they're transparently telling the truth much of the time? WE really are being fools. And it just goes to show that we ARE more divisive; if you're not fully believing the media, you must be believing Trump. We KNOW that neither is innocent here. Don't believe everything you read. Question it all.

#1 just gets us all even less information to go on, since questions won't be answered. This is a tyrannical move, not sure why anyone's surprised. But the media have treated him up til now with so much free publicity and camera love that he should be thanking them... Instead his self-loving ass thinks he answers to no one except a reflection of himself. Totalitarianism anyone?

#3 is to keep everyone asleep. And yes the media plays a part in that too, and have been for quite some time already. Being privatized and owned by only six corporations, The mainstream media ensures it. So, we take sides here, or we wake up and think critically and independently and DONT take sides, but insist that we stick together and not let these institutions control our lives, who are attempting to keep us divided.

The media is not to be fully trusted, don't fall for it, no matter how much we loathe Trump.

A friend wrote this on FB:

""Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, OR OF THE PRESS; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
    - First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America

Why is the Press included in that Amendment?

Why is the Press the ONLY commercial undertaking, the ONLY private enterprise, the ONLY profession, called out in the Constitution and given an enumerated right?

    Why?

The Press wasn't granted this right so they could show you pictures of Britney Spears' pantiless crotch getting out of a limo, or so you could read about the exploits of the mutant Bat Boy, or so some foreign-born billionaire asshole could shove his hysterical paranoid conservative bullshit down your throat every day, or so some conspiracy theorist could vomit his mental illness all over America.

The Press was granted freedom as an enumerate right specifically because it is their duty to be the watchdog of liberty.

Conway: Trump administration will "rethink" relationship with the press

It is NOT government's job to determine its relationship to the press.

Let me repeat that: IT IS NOT GOVERNMENT'S JOB TO DETERMINE ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE PRESS

It is the Press's DUTY to hold government to account.

This statement, that Trump determines his relationship to the press AND THEREFORE TO YOU, CITIZENS, is bullshit. Utter and complete bullshit and it shows you EXACTLY who this guy is and the kind of fascists he's managed to surround himself with.

This is how tyranny is born. Every. Single. Time.

If the Press allows this president, ANY PRESIDENT, to set the narrative, then they have utterly failed in their duty to the Republic."

So what do people think of Trump pulling the TPP? This seemed to have people against it on both sides.

I don't know....I think the argument for TPP is that it creates a more stable atmosphere. Trump wants to do trade "deals" individually which, in my opinion, seems to be a little sloppy.
