Poster Restoration

Does anyone know of any good poster restoration places? I have a Dallas 98 and a Mansfield 98 that are not in the best of shape and want to have them repaired closest to original as can be. If anyone has had any repairs to their posters, please let me know. Thanks.

Lumiere poster restoration in California. His name is Mario. He just did a full restoration on a 2001 a space odyssey poster of mine and it looks flawless

Personal opinion....don't do it. I never get why people want posters they plan to keep to be in perfect condition. Two of the posters on my walls are seriously rough, one of them I actually tore off the wall at The Vic (not PJ). They're awesome. Pin holes, scotch tape, tear, crease, whatever...if you're not selling then keep it as-is.

    Just my opinion.

Wow, that Hartford looks amazing. If you were gonna go that nice with it it's worth it. If I was just hanging the poster, I would leave it in the original condition and frame it. I just like the vintage, weathered look, especially if there's a story behind it.

I love seeing all of the before and after photos.

Art is an investment. I appreciate preserving the life a poster has lived. I would roll with it untouched. I also appreciate giving a poster a bit of a facelift if that is what works for you.

Either way, take art and love it. Do with it in whatever makes it feel at home to you. Just enjoy it.

Hey Dave! Hope that poster collection is treating you well. Guessing you are building more walls :)

I used Poster Fix in Brooklyn. Long process and a bit of a quirky owner but very pleased with how it turned out. Not cheap is a common theme it looks like in retorations!

I have heard horror stories about Chris not returning people's stuff. He has two lobby cards of mine right now, so I'm happy to see a positive review!

My 27x41 movie poster is posted earlier in this thread, tape stains, color fading, tears, cracks. All fixed for $360

Looks like they scanned it and touched it up in Photoshop, then reprinted

Mario is the man. He does a lot of restoration work for the high auction houses like Heritage, and emovieposter. I have it on my wall now. Someone offered me a lot of $$$ for it, but I just couldn't ever sell it

Riley, they restored the original poster right? This response makes me think they did indeed scan the poster, retouch it and send you a copy of the original. No way I want a copy of my poster. I want the original back...even if it is not 100% perfect.

The poster was restored not reprinted.

Restored. It is the original poster. John Davis at poster mountain and Mario from lumiere are the best in the business and have contracts with the major auction houses.

I had a few posters will rolls like that in it (from being framed in cheap walmart frames for far too many years).    When I took it to my local framing place, they put them in some kind of heavy metal press (that I don't think did anything by flatten them) for several days.   They looked great when framing.  Even my Gorge '05 poster that had a few creases in it from being squished by rowdy fans (before they started selling tubes at the shows) looks pretty good framed.   You can see one crease if you stare at it really hard from 6 inches away, but other then that it looks great framed.

I guess a flat press and alot of weight goes a long way to making a questionable poster look really good in a frame.

Still have like 4-5 98's that need some love - not sure if I should sell or go full on with the restoration jobs.  :grimacing:
