Price is only going to go up... 650 will be a bargain for this in a few years
$650 will never be considered a bargain for a poster (at least a PJ poster outside the '98 tour). Ever. That's a ton of money for something that cost $30 (give or take) in the last 10 years. A bargain was my getting one from someone at cost. You'd probably say my selling it years later (to help offset the loss of my job at the time) for less than $300 was a steal. Me--I was shocked it was worth that much, to be honest.
I don't need the reminder that the market sets the value. I'm aware and I live by that when selling my prints. I just find it silly to subscribe to the same behavior when buying something. I suppose that helps keep me sane in the hobby.
To me its only worth what someone is willing to pay !!! It cost $35 new !!! Its not one of a kind it's thousands and thousands of lithograph sold. To me yes I see where others might pay a higher price cuz they weren't able to get it. At the end of the day. We have all paid more for items just cause we want a item in our collection!!!! I would never pay that price it's not a one of a kind it will never will be one of a kind and there's thousands of them in existence so it's a waste of money.!!!!! Not to mention there is artist series!! No way its called greed dont be a fool !!! Now if its 1 of a 50 or 500 in the world than you have something that would pay off in the long run. Just a point of view!!!

There aren't thousands and thousands of Kongs. There are probably around 800 of the show edition.

I was not trying to be mean. I mean I don't know the number for sure I was just stating my point that's all I get it it's about supply and demand. I have been to plenty of Pearl Jam shows to know that you can buy two of the posters for each show and they have stacks on both sides of trailer Not to mention the inside sales sites and then the artist series and then the variant series I would say more than 800 you might be right! Im not trying to argue I'm just saying it's not worth the money to me that's my point of view. Good luck to any fans that have paid 600 670 whatever that's cool if it's worth that to them fine. To me it's a wasted investment to pay that much for something that has so many copies it's not like the Mona Lisa. !!!. Now I've been to1996 Columbia Post Pavilion show they stop selling the posters so to me that poster is an investment because there was a whole lot less sold I think I paid $25 I only got one. People were offering me triple of what I paid that night. I'm not trying to sell mine!!! But the band wanted it pulled.

There is no variant for that poster. And I was only responding to you statement that there are thousands and thousands of that poster. Simply not true. Otherwise you're entitled to your opinion regarding whether it's a good investment or not. I traded a $65 item for my Kong a few years ago and I could easily get $500 to $600 for it now. I think I made a good investment. But to each his own.
By the way... I also had a Mona Lisa but I flipped it for a blue fixer.

'will be a bargain' and 'nice to see' the art itself is the focus, correct?
It is a f'n donkey king ripoff. Barely art. Let it go. Collecting sometimes has nothing to do with art, but with possibility for value appreciation and trying to complete a set. Ask the artists if they are upset that the DK is sold for $600 now. Guess what, they aren't because it helps sales of their current work and their reputation.
Agree. Flipping helps the artists and PJ. People hate flippers, but it helps keep the interest level sky high and keeps people waiting in line for hours to buy two posters they haven't seen or know who the artists are. Once posters become valuable people become interested. It's part of the fun/addiction.
I find it hilarious when people want to buy at a "reasonable" price and expect people to be human and sell on the cheap. But those people wouldn't be interested if they were $50 posters. Interested to see if PJ prints a ton for next tour like they did for stadium shows. I think it would be a mistake.
Did they print more posters for the Fenway and Wrigley shows than what they normally do? Obviously these prints that are appreciating (like Kong) are based on supply and demand. If there is an over supply then it would seem the stadium show prints would be unlikely to appreciate. I own the Wrigley Faile and have no intention of selling it, but I'm curious about the possibility of these posters appreciating if there were more than normal printed.
