You saved @SmallestOceans from continuing to play with herself. Even if it had to be Flava Flav (you got a rip in your couch - eww burn)

    Since I got 11th row presale tickets - it's O.A.R week :joy:

Himself Nancy! Tempo saved @SmallestOceans from continuing to play with himself. Lol  SO is of the Manbeast breed!!
And you're excitement for your O.A.R. show is making me excited for you! I am eagerly awaiting to hear about all your concert shenanigans ;)

    Bells... For... Her...

The piano always gives me chills...
Tori's voice always gives me chills...and her piano.
**Bonus Points** Yes I can award myself these just like Tempo ;)

The woman I bought my house from was a hugeee Tori Amos fan. She had concert photos and framed Tori art all over the house. The photos of her red hair were quite striking against the light teal colored walls. It gave the house a very cool vibe and I was immediately drawn in.

@hauntingfamiliar was the person that owned the house a little "off"?!?

Tori fanatics can be a rather eccentric breed.

Thanks for the heads up @hauntingfamiliar!!  Sorry @SmallestOceans! Don't know why I thought you were a she.  Probably cause you don't act like a dick. (puns unintended).  Serious lack of estrogen on this forum!!!

O.A.R Fun Fact  -  Marc (singer/rhythm guitarist) and Chris (drummer) are best friends and, after watching Pearl Jam Unplugged on MTV in middle school, they decided they had to form a band and began playing PJ covers.

They met Richard (lead guitar) and Benj(bass) in high school & they played PJ covers while starting to write & perform their own stuff. They all went to Ohio State and met Jerry (sax & guitar/drums/etc) in Freshman year and official O.A.R was born in 1996.

    End....My...Friend

Interesting band for sure, Nancy. I hear a lot of Dave Matthews influence in their music. I had some friends in high school that were into the band, but I was into heavier stuff back then.

And yeah I try not to be a dick. There’s been a lot of fights and arguments on here the past couple months, and that kind of stuff just drains me at this point so I just try to stay away from all that bs lol. It’s not what I come here for.

Anyways...the Phish run in Mexico starts tonight! I’ll post an audio link later when I come across one. :joy:

^^ Post the link SO! And righttt no need for fighting on a rock forum. I'm here to be entertained.

@tempo_n_groove Yesss ha ha I believe she actually must have been quite eccentric. I used an agent so I never met her during the sale. However I knew she was a graphic design artist. She painted this ocean mural on one of the bedroom walls. Its kind of bizarre amd cool at the same time. I always thought I'd redo the room and paint over it but it hasn't happened yet. I live 15 minutes from the beach but not on the beach so when my family visits I give them the room with the mural view. We call it the ocean room. She ended up renting a house down the street from me while she was having a house built and I took my daughter trick-or-treating at her house. She had fiery red hair... just like Tori ;)

@SmallestOceans I can see that you were into the heavier metal in the 90's. I was into Van Halen, Yes, Tull, Bruce, Scorpions, etc etc etc when I was in high school.  The dudes in O.A.R were playing with plastic toy instruments back then.  I never got into the metal bands in the '90's - it's interesting to listen to them now.

@hauntingfamiliar I love the slow jams of the Dead and other bands. I saw Bob Weir's side band Bobby & the Midnites when I was at Rutgers - they played in one of the auditoriums. I was drunk and the rest of the crowd was stoned on various substances so they were appreciating the music more, but I had a good time. The entire concert was similar to that song.  Brings me back, thank you.

I have stayed away from  AMT and even other threads lately because they aren't healthy places to debate, which I love to do. They get real personal real fast and I posted today and I saw that the sniping has continued, which is a shame, @tempo_n_groove tells me to stay away and I have been so good. But I thought I'd stick my toe in the water and the temperature just wasn't right. :

I need positive energy more than you know and that's why I love this thread. You guys let me be me and  I love all of you for who you are and for the music you introduce me to,  especially SO's manly links.

Seriously, this thread is like home to me.

So enough of the blather - I only have a couple days left to my self proposed O.A.R week :joy:

Another deep song from those guys Nancy. I know they played a small amphitheatre near me last year, but I was on the road heading north to see Phish and PJ. They’re coming back to Boca in June so I just might have to check them out. They’re playing with a band called “American Authors”. Have you ever heard of those guys? Can’t wait to see Bobby playing with Wolf Bros next month! Love me some Lost Sailor, definitely one of my favorites.

March is gonna be a busy concert month for me. I’m seeing Pink Talking Fish who cover Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish really well. Meeting hauntingfamilar up in Asheville to see Uncle Acid with Graveyard and Mike Gordon the next night. Sort of dragging her to that first show but the bands aren’t nearly as cryptic as they sound ! Mike Gordon should be great, i’ve never seen him play solo. Elton John the weekend after with some potential Jeff Tweedy and Get the Led Out. Bobby and Dark Star Orchestra later in the month. Got any shows coming up on the radar?

^ Lots of love for ya Nancy!!   And Yesss the variety and exposure to different types of music on this thread is fantastic!

Tempo I used to be absolutely obsessed with Beavis and Butthead ;) "Washin' the dog, washin' the dog!!" :dog:

    Come...Together...Yeah

I never knew this version existed until a few months ago. It's so dark and sludgy and completely rocks.

Sludgy is a great word for that version - nice!

Really liked the Chili Pepper Song @SmallestOceans !

My only concert for this year is O.A.R at The Garden State Arts Center (names die hard with me) and they have one NYC date but no venue yet - so I'm waiting on an alert - fingers crossed. I got no money so I'm charging and causing myself pain. But it's something to look forward to! And something to get me out of the house. I'm dragging my son with me with a promise that he can get high if someone else lights up first (Bizarre parenting a 21 year old who is kinda in his late teens emotionally).

Looked up American Authors - they have a song that is used in a commercial so they have crazy hits on the one song - but I listened to a sampling including acoustic versions and they're 4 young guys doing jam, roots, some electronic and pop vibe but they can sing and play so they will fit with O.A.R and I think I'll enjoy them.

My laptop fu'n died on me and I had to get an old one up to date so I will continue O.A.R week :joy: with a kick ass  jam

BUT  FIRST I'm going to post  a surprise for @tempo_n_groove , and everyone else cause this is SOO not my lane.

My son came home from his part time job about a month ago and played a song for me by this rapper called Token. Me and him have had a tough time of it, esp the last couple years and this song was his way of telling me how he felt when he didn't have the words.

I have listened to it so many times and I've even listened to Token do freestyle on Sway numerous times, so my son may get to go see him in Boston (he ain't playing NY metro, little bastard). It's March and I don't know if I can get my shit together that quick but

This song is almost a perfect description of me and him and the family situation and it has helped us start to heal..(A freaking rapper, right??)

    Anyway...Yeah...Heroes

Shit makes me cry.& think & understand & change.

Here's the lyric video if you don't understand when he starts spittin' (listen to my badass self ) I just made my son cringe -

Shit makes me cry.& think & understand & change.

Here's the lyric video if you don't understand when he starts spittin' (listen to my badass self ) I just made my son cringe -

Yes you’re right Nancy... a show or two is always something fun to look forward to! It’s crazy to think sometimes about the deepest things that music can convey that can be tougher to express in person. Sometimes a song can sum it up perfectly just like that one. A local kid near me used to make music similar to that rap video, his name is Justin Clancy. I’ll post one of his vids/songs if you want to check it out. I know his music is about interpersonal struggles.

I’m no rap god or expert lol, I used to listen to some when I was younger but barely any rap these days. But I think Eminem opened the door in regards to talking about family struggles and interpersonal conflicts. Granted he did it in a crazy way lol. But maybe these young kids now can take something away from that in that you can be open and vulnerable about the tougher struggles we all go through. Sending lots of {{{Vibes}}} your way Nancy!
