I would say No Code for sure. Vitalogy is angry AF. No Code is more introspective, which I feel these two songs to be, both lyrically and melodically.

    Completely agree.

I Got Shit would be perfect Track 3 on No Code(moving Who You Are to cleanup) Long Road as album closer on Vitalogy instead of HeyFoxyMopHandle..spaced far enough away from Nothingman would be my tracking.

I guess to me they sound very vitalogish because they were both played live on the 95 tour.

Im guessing for me its the change of Jack on drums and the influence of Neil that partially sparked a change of direction and gives Merkinball a No Code feel.

Both are in the vein of No Code hands down. Agree that they could be related to Dead Man. This was/is such a creative time period for them, definitely my favorite aside from the pre-TEN era. Still dream of what was going to be in that rumored "Hot Rocket" album slated between No Code and Yield. I'm sure most of it became Yield, yet one can still dream...

I side with No Code on this one.

PS- I've been here a long, long time and I've never heard of "Hot Rocket"

I'm sure if you google "Pearl Jam hot rocket" some old postings may come out. It was a "rumored" title for the "new album" at some time between No Code and Yield, mentioned on some radio stations in larger markets. One old fanzine "release" or "footsteps" had some copies of the articles back in that era, stating the album was suppose to come out 6 months after No Code harkening back to the 60's when major bands like the beatle, stone and The Who would release albums in short amount of time periods. Some say the album never existed, other say it evolved to become Yield, I've made my own "version" of bsides from both Jack albums for myself just to imagine what if.

This. No Code all day for me, especially I Got Shit.

I love threads like this, and seeing where people would fit songs into existing track lists throws up some great playlist ideas.

I'd say No Code. Speaking of which. What is the rarity of vinyl ep of this? I'd really like to get it. Seen it a record store in seattle a few years back and didn't grab it. Should of...

don't think it is too rare. I picked it up off of MusicStack back around 2008. but then again vinyl has gotten crazy since then.

Funny, it seems this review sums up what many have said about the split between the 2 songs and what album they are associated with.

    It's a hopeless situation...
