This thread is ironic since I'm about to go make some for a pot luck tonight. But I didn't think this through all the way...like how I'll get it there and keep it warm. If I cover it, the condensation will make the onions on top all mushy. I hate that.
It's still good non-hot. Maybe wrap the container tight in foil, and bring the onion toppings separately. (or if there's an oven handy there, just needs five or seven minutes to re-heat)
Other than stuffing, probably my favorite Thanksgiving dish. As long as it has twice as many of those crispy onions on top as the recipe calls for. That's the key!
are you intimating that bacon could be considered "weird shit"?

I guess that came out a little wing I'm mean wrong wobbie. I don't like soggy weird chewy chunky bacon shit in each bite. some put weird chunky seasonings in too.
I do like the crunchy topping.
Happy thanksgiving all!

NO! I would prefer this food item be forever removed from the Thanksgiving menu.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone enjoys or avoids the GBC today. Love the idea of sharing pics. I challenge anyone to find a GBC that actually looks good.
I've never actually had it, but I assume I would like it, since I really like green beans a lot. My mom always does a broccoli/cauliflower cassarole instead, and that is very good, so green beans should also work very nicely.
your mother is a champ. gotta love broccoli & cauliflower blend & or casserole. i'd love to read her recipe if you care to share it. green bean casserole is frickin wonderful grubbin. thick cream of mushroom soup not a lot of water or milk added. french fried onions can be eaten right out of the can or sack that they are in. i've had some pretty tasty green bean casserole.
secret - you get a slice of ham & put some green bean casserole on the ham, roll it up burrito style & eat.
you're welcome
I will try to remember to get the recipe from her. She doesn't actually normally use cheese - it's a cream sauce - but cheese can be thrown in no problem.

Never thought of hot sauce added in to it. Will definitely try it next time.
Typically, I use 1 can of French cut and 1 can of cut. Then I go a tad lighter on the milk and way over on the pepper. The pepper has been highly complimented over the years.

This has never been on my Thanksgiving menu, thank FSM. We Canadians don't go in for that gross slimy stuff.
Green beans are great but should be eaten crisp, lightly steamed with lemon and a little butter or, if you want to get fancy (and delicious), lightly steamed then quickly sauteed with almonds in butter. Mmmmmmm.

Everybody should take a picture of their this Thanksgiving's green bean casserole and post it in this thread.
add some excitement.
just because it's fre&*#nch-cut doesn't count
(although, it'll be baked in the exact same style of casserole dish that Edith Bunker used)
(and I'm using fre&*#nch-cut!)
