Yeah man. You really should. It's a masterpiece to any other artist who doesn't have a Born to Run to their name. Or Darkness on the Edge of Town. Or The River. Or Tunnel of Live. Or The Rising. Or Magic.

    Fuck, Bruce is the man.

Talking Heads - remain in light
    Sonic Youth - daydream nation
Prince - sign o the times
  • Only 3 albums from a decade of music? Hmmmm...

Paul's Boutique-Beastie Boys. You can still listen to that album today.

Master of Puppets-Metallica You can listen to this too

Appetite for Destruction- G N R Another one you can listen to.

Honorable is Michael Jackson's Thriller. It can be dated with some parts but it still has some fun stuff on it.

I find this impossible really. But three albums that were super important to me in the 80s and I still love them today, and play them regularly.
    Thriller - Michael Jackson
    Faith - George Michael
    The Joshua Tree - U2

A good list. 'Tattoo You' has to trump one of these I would think. Which one? I'm not totally sure (likely Springsteen from my perspective). I also like the 'Ghost in the Machine' recommendation made earlier.

    Touch call but here goes:

    Mission of Burma, "Vs." 1982
    R.E.M., "Murmur", 1983
The Replacements, "Let It Be", 1984

Always subject to change, of course!

  • Foreigner 4 was a hell of an album.

Synchronicity was great too (another Police selection worthy of considering).

David Bowie's Let's Dance was huge too.

Wow, tough one especially for those of us who lived through the decade, lol.

Michael Jackson-Thriller (first album (on vinyl, no less, lol) I bought with my own money, listened to the title track countless times, still spin it every so often).

The Police-Synchronicity (just the whole package, musically and lyrically)

Def Leppard-Hysteria (the album (cassettes by this point, lol) that brought me back to rock after a couple years of being into rap, specifically the song Armageddon It)

This thread inspired me to see what Rolling Stone had to say about it, and now I'm listening to every single album on their top 100 80s albums (or at least as much of each one that I can stand, lol - sometimes that's half of the first song, haha, but not usually!). This could take awhile, but I figure I'll make some good song discoveries along the way! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/100-best-albums-of-the-eighties-20110418/was-not-was-what-up-dog-20110330

I did this a few years ago with their Top 500 albums, I have acquired a lot of them and continue to pick them up when I see them.
