occasionally i will stop in there and find a decent deal on something. usually seasonal stuff on clearance that they need to get rid of. the other day in small town southern IL found a nice pair of "fuzzy socks" for like $7 and i got them for my girlfriend because she loves them. i always make it a point to stop in hospital gift shops, and if i can find it, the hospital chapel so i can go in there and offer a prayer for the inpatients. in a lot of cases they need all the help they can get.

well after Bill's latest rant about celebrities shutting their mouths cuz it's causing independents to become republicans (STFU Bill, like seriously you are embarrassing yourself-no one is seeing how Taylor Swift is voting and deciding to vote the other way as the lone cause of that swing-if they are they are as dumb as maga), tonight's grammys are surely going to cause a friday night meltdown.

To be honest, I don't care if anyone hates, loves, or is indifferent to Bill Maher.  He's small potatoes to me or, as a friend of mine likes to say, "I have bigger fish to fry."

So I would love it if someone would open a "Bill Maher II" thread or something along those lines so I could get this one off my notifications.   

I'm quite serious- I have no axe to grind here.  I'm just over it.  So please, would someone kindly start a new Maher thread so I can ask Kat to close this one rather than just doing it beforehand and having anyone here think I'm an asshole.  (Actually, I know I've been a hemorrhoid from time to time but honestly, I'm trying to be a better person.)

As for the other replies to what I said, I'm not doing to respond directly to any of them.  They are a reflection of how toxic this place is and I'm just tired of being reminded of that.   Honestly, I don't care that people make derogatory remarks about me.  That's more a reflection on them than me.

So this is yet again a reminder of how much toxic and hate filled these forums are in general.   I'm over it and I'm over this place.  I won't be the first to leave for that reason.

Sorry I misunderstood.  I'm not unhappy about what you said in any case Jose. Some of the others though... not cool, no necessary.  We've become a cantankerous lot. It's really a problem.  It's unhealthy. We are all complicit to some degree.  I need to find a way to be better and do better.  It's not happening here. That on me as well as any body. I just can't see doing this any more. Life too short. 
Ok, gotta go, back to facial skin surgery.  (Skin cancer)

FWIW, I don't think "we've" become a cantankerous lot. It can get frustrating when you open threads then get upset about something in it and close it or ask people to stop commenting or whatever.

not to pile on brian here, but brian, nobody is crapping all over you in this thread. bill maher is just basically canceled and he is beyond redemption for most of us here. he is about as relevant as james carville, who has not won an election since 1992, but for some reason the media amplifies his opinions, which most of us feel are incorrect in this day and age. same with bill. bill had his day where he was a folk hero for a lot of us, but he screwed that all up. for me he jumped the shark where he had milo on his show and basically felated him instead of challenge him on his controversial takes. bill should just move to texas like joe rogan and get it overwith. he shits all over california every chance he gets, so why not go somewhere where he would clearly be happier?

maher is irrelevant in the zeitgeist in my opinion. there is nothing he can do to keep people talking about him but keep going to the right.

Brian, if you look at the menu on the right, there is a "My posts" section - go in there, find this thread, and select "mute" from the menu. That might stop the email notifications. I'm not actually sure that will work - it might simply hide the thread from your view on the site - but it could also stop notifications, and I'd be interested to know if it does! 

For the record, I don't feel like anything in this thread has been directed at you in any way, and I can't honestly make sense of why it is bothering you. Sorry.
