EV Solo Show Etiquette

pretextpretext Posts: 1,294
edited July 2008 in Given To Fly (live)
I was wondering what the deal is with EV's solo shows. Do the audiences sit or stand? I can't imagine sitting at PJ, but it seems like the vibe might be different for these gigs. Of course, I think I my seat is the last row in the house, so I can do whatever I darn well please ;)

I didn't attend any of the west coast shows, but I know that Ed asks everyone to have a seat at the start of the show. Everyone stands up during "Porch" maybe "Lukin" and then the finale... "Hard Sun"

stand and applaud when he comes out...sit for most of the show....stand for the final encore....that was generally the way it went west coast

What about singing along? Of course I always do this at PJ shows, but those are at big arenas or amphitheaters. The acoustics at the Opera House might be so good that people around me can hear my off-key wailing. I don't think Ed really needs me to sing harmony on Far Behind.
*Does not include encore of Garden and Leash.

My only suggestion would be to not yell out, especially trying to be funny.
You will pretty much always come off as a douche, and 9 times out of 10 an unfunny douche at that...

This may be a stupid question, but there's no sort of "dress code" or anything at these theater venues, right? thanks

sing along but be aware of your volume....a lot of the songs are quiet and i don't think the people around you paid to hear you sing ;):)

I think the most annoying part of these East coast shows will be the

'Let's Go.....(insert Yankees, Phillies, etc.)' chants.

Luckily, if I get tickets, I'll be in DC, and we don't have a winning team! :)

I don't what I am going to do if I hear the words "white pants" anywhere else now. I might cough my drink through my nose. I get so tickled with the original thread--thanks for the surprise here.

    Take care,
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

I remember on an Alice in Chains CD that I have , Layne Staley says to the crowd " Alright , I think thats it " ( meaning the last song of the night )

And then this one guy yells " Hey Fuck You, Man "

    The crowd enjoyed that one...lol

Would a 'Nothingman' or a sign of that nature be appropriate?
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

I heard one of the shows and it is my favorite boot *ever*.

I am going to the Saturday Warner show in DC, and I can't imagine the crowd there being bad. Hopefully, they will stop staring at their shoes for a few seconds. God, talk about concert etiquette, DC takes the cake.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but nothing impresses people more than hearing a recording of my voice yelling something during quiet moments at a concert. Of course, I love to play that recording loud, while driving very fast in my very loud speedboat, as close to the beach as possible... even though no one can hear it, it is doubly impressive. Also, it helps compensate for my micro-phallus.

I remember seeing a sticky about the west coast tour saying no photos whatsoever. Haven't seen that for this tour, but I'm sure it'll be the same. Anyone?

I don't know about appropriate ... but it would be futile. Nothingman is not an Ed song.
