Hell, STP did! A lot of big bands play there. Plus, there's a hotel on site, plenty of places for a pre-party...

    Hey all

I didn't read through the entire thread, but is there tailgating at the Dodge Center?

I read online that state law prohibits tailgating and open containers?

    Is this true or not?

I've never been to a concert at this venue.

Thanks (and sorry if this has been asked).

Could any of you locals give some overall suggestions
on the area. Entertainment, things to see, places to eat, etc...?

You know I just kept it really cool. I did have a cocktail or 2 before I headed in last time. It was like people just knew to keep to smaller circles?! It was a really odd place.

It was easy in and out however. It was raining back home for days and days. We can in from NH. By the time we hit Springfield, MA it stopped raining. We parked and then walked behind this industial building's alley to get to the venue but it was a straight shot. Show was great. We drove home, we hit Springfield and back to the rain for days and days more!

I can not wait until for this show!!!!!! Then Great Woods. I am bummed no webcast for PJ tonight from Bonnaroo

Yeah, no tailgating allowed. It says so on the livenation.com website.

Come to the pre-party at Sweet Janes!!

    hey everyone-

question: what do you all think the chances are of me NOT getting shafted somehow if i try to priceline a hotel for hartford at this late stage in the game? i have a reservation at the motel 6, which i stayed at in '06. i'm happy to stay there again, but im wondering if it might not be a bad idea to try staying downtown this time so i could hit this sweet jane's shindig.

has anyone here recently pricelined a hartford hotel?

    thanks
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

  • No offense to any of you local PJ fans but Sweet Jane's
looks kinda lame to me... seems like a fancy Applebee's.... isn't there anywhere else that's having a good pre or post party ???

Well, growing up as a kid The Meadows was the place to be all summer long and they would let you tailgate from 10am onward, until 1999 where a DMB concert changed everything. http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/516498/08091999/dave_matthews_band.jhtml

However theres def still drinking allowed in certain lots they just don't open up until later in the day now, I believe around 430-5pm. I went to the Petty show just last week and there were beer pong tables set up at every other car. They have cops on bicycles riding around the lots, I was drinking a bottled beer and one cop came up to me because he wanted some chips. This was in lot D.

    - Lot A is located at the CT Expo Center off Savitt Way and New Road.
    - Lot B is located behind the CT Expo Center at the end of New Road.
    - Lot C is located across from the CT Expo Center via New Road.
    - Lot D is located at Market and Pequot, next to the Citgo station and Travelers Insurance.
  • Any Suggestions...???

I usually like to visit a cool place or a place of interest the next
morning after the show before I head for home.

Was going to get some chow at Hot Tomato's but not sure
what's to see in the Hartford area.

uh, well not much to see i guess. but if you're into literature, you may want to check out the mark twain house. it's in hartford. google it for more info. not sure if they're open on saturday mornings. again, not much in the way of sightseeing.
I love to turn you on

Is anyone gonna stay over and commute to Mansfield and then stay over THERE at all? I'm trying to figure out my plan. Coming to Hartford, would love to hook up and party all weekend with fun people...

    Thanks for all the info.

It's funny I went to a DMB concert in Vegas in 2001 I believe. The openers were Macy Gray and another band. Well that other band had a ton of fans and they were completely nuts and tore up the whole field and all the seats. It was pretty much chaos. The band name was something along the lines of mass destruction and I think the fans took it literally.

My wife and I wound up leaving after about 2 songs into DMB. I couldn't even believe that it was a DMB concert.
