You and I saw the same show. Ha! You hit it on the head that they sounded great. The setlist was just all over the place. I was bouncing around like a maniac during Last Exit just ready to go then I never really regained that same momentum. A few really cool tunes but the covers man the covers. I love Pearl Jam. I want to hear PJ play PJ. I totally respect 2 to 4 covers from Ed playing back at home but some of them were oddly placed in the set and just odd. Looking back it is almost like he thought too hard about including each individual song and not how the setlist would come together on the whole. I like a good up and down slow to fast pace to the show. I have a feeling that Monday will be much better.BL221101 said:Disclaimer: I'm about to sound like a spoiled PJ fan, but...
Seven covers? Seven? I could've gone to a local bar and watched a cover band play if I wanted to hear covers. Seven?
I've now seen Let Me Sleep and Bee Girl three times a piece in the last three years. Woe is me, but the novelty of those songs is lost on me now. My white whales are Tremor Christ and Parting Ways. Isn't there a saying around here...there's always next year? Maybe Monday's set will include one of those two songs. I wouldn't hate that at all.
This set list felt disjointed. Great songs, great sound, odd flow. It felt like driving on I-90...lots of stop and go.
I was at both NYC shows and both Fenway shows, and the overall flow of this show didn't compare to those. Crowd was great down in GA. And again, great songs, great sound, odd flow, and seriously, seven covers?

Amazing show. Great pre-show vibe in Wrigleyville. The Low Light opener was really something. Hadn't heard it live yet, to have them open out of nowhere with it was great. I Got ID, Sad, Light Years, Last Exit are all amazing songs. Loved Corduroy in the encore, and nothing like a well-placed Go to open the second encore.E. these were the complaints about fenway 1. they were both awesome shows( i prefered wrigley 1 over fenway 1) but very similar with the covers and at times the pacing.PurduePete55 said:

Forgot to mention...when I first got on the field (around 715pm or so) I was walking behind the GA section to the entrance on Mike's side. Jill was sitting front row center right behind GA. Someone came up and took a pic with her as we walked by. Pretty awesome that she was down with the fans instead of hidden in a suite somewhere.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

I was in 135 and agree as well. Ed was about impossible to understand, but in the end it was PJ at Wrigley and that's pretty awesome with that many people.senor locke said:

Great post , definitely agree ... thanks to Ed for acknowledging our amazing Cdn poet. I can't imagine that any country has ever experienced what we did on Saturday night in Kingston and all over Canada. So much love.PJ_Soul said:
That is so cool Eddie mentioned The Hip. Tonight and the Hip's last show being televised meant a LOT to a LOT of Canadians, and the whole country got together this evening. I went to a street screening for it tonight and the communal love for Gord and The Tragically Hip was palpable. Not sad, celebratory and thankful. It was happening in all places across the country as though we were all doing it together. On streets, in bars, theatres, casinos, restaurants, city squares, parks, yards, living rooms, Canada House down at the Olympics, gatherings of Canadians living abroad around the world.... I don't think there has ever been anything like this before. It was really really special. And it was even all about raising money for Cancer research. For Eddie to mention it is very touching for a Hip/Pearl Jam fan.

Amazing show to bring my college roommate to see her first. I cried at Inside Job and Just Breathe/I Believe in Miracles. Steve Gleason is such an inspiration. I so so loved I Am A Patroit. The whole show was amazing. I cannot wait til tonight's show.
Btw - when I want to complain I remember I watched Fenway on periscope. Now I am in the one and only Wrigley park watching my boys play live. Who knows when I will see them again? So grateful! Thanks for sharing this!0 -
I thought it was a better version of Fenway 1, which I also had the pleasure of attending. My 8th and final show of the tour. Just about every show this tour has been great, with the worst ones being merely good. Was a little bummed about 16 repeats between Fenway 1 and Wrigley 1, but also caught 5 songs I hadn't seen this year in Last Exit, Miracles, Rain, Let Me Sleep, and Inside Job, which was nice. Thought the energy was better at Fenway, though we were on the field.
Great tour. So happy to have caught what I did. Can't wait to see where 2017 takes us.0 -

what i will say is what a difference the special guests make.. bronson arroyo vs steve gleason.. i mean one made very little sense and one was one of the most emotional and incredible things i have even seen'98: Camden 1 '00: JB2 '03: MSG1 '04: Boston 1 '05: AC1

That is never a complaint of mine - I feel like his stories and perspective is part of the show, part of what makes it a PJ show for me. And I love it!buck502000 said:My only complaint Ed talked a lot - probably more than at any show I have been- would have loved a few more songs
It would suck for the folks in sections who said they couldn't understand what he was saying because of the sound - that would be frustrating. But if I can understand his words, I'm always grateful for them. They are part of what makes each show unique for me, aside of course from the mix of songs themselves and the energy, which are the 2 most important ingredients to a fantastic show!0 -
Remember back on the board circ 2000 to 2006 and people were freakin out -- in a positive sense -- for covers done by PJ.0

My ticket buddy and I danced and jumped like mad fools but for about 75% of the show we were the only ones I could see who were doing so, and we were about 10 rows back, Stone's side. Two women beside us looked at their phones the whole time. People, if you want to just text your friends, maybe get seats and leave GA to those who want to rock out.bloodwhore said:The weirdo looks are a good thing. Means you're rocking out properly. And they just wish they could get into it like that. Also I would piss my pants before missing Sad. Song of the night for me.

Someone asked about sound check. I heard Sad, I Believe In Miracles, Amongst The Waves and Light Years. Might be missing one.
I randomly met member #101 last night at a bar. Impressive guy.
I think the band and their music is a reflection of who we'd like to be and you can tell who they are by the sincerity of their music, the causes they fight for and the people they choose to surround themselves with. We're talking about YOU Steve Gleason. I will be watching his film and if Saturday night was any indication, I'll be tearing up, again.
I loved the show. Top 3 for me out of 13 shows. Personally, I love the stories behind the music and am appreciative of Ed's sharing. However, I understand that if you can't hear it, that it would be frustrating.
I'm in Reserved Seats tonight. I look forward to enjoying this night with all my fellow cult members.
These 2 guys on the board have been pumping Oceans and Leash. I've seen them before, but would love to hear them tonight. I'll put in a bid for Fatal.
Enjoy everyone!!!!

Had to wait nearly two years to finally see them again, too long. Wasn't looking forward to such a large show, but actually enjoyed the entire evening. Masters of War made the whole trip worth it. Exhausted and back in California today, but worth it.91 - 11/22 Detroit (opening for RHCP)

First time at Wrigley Field ever. Incredible energy throughout Wrigleyville and the stadium. Coming from another city, I was so impressed with the staff at Wrigley and how nice everyone was.
Amazing show. Lots of fun and the band sounded amazing. I was a little disappointed by the energy in my section, though. I was on the field in the first section behind GA. The majority of people around me only knew the hits from Ten and Betterman. It seemed like they were there just to see a few songs and party. Half of the section was cleared out by the time the second encore started. Was it like this anywhere else on the field?0 -
I hope they fix the video synch issues with the screen for tonight. That was my biggest gripe with the show.0
