Baseball Stadium Summer Residency Tradition Going Forward

If this starts to become a new thing for the band, what is the next logical stadium they could take over? I'd say Dodger Stadium would be a good next choice just due to its history. Would love to hear you all's picks and why.

It's gotta be those old school parks, and there aren't too many of them left. Chavez Ravine sure makes sense. Kansas City maybe...
In all honesty, I prefer the smaller college basketball arenas.

Yeah they would only play the old stadiums. Definitely don't see Ed being into playing the modern parks

Yeah me either. I was also thinking Busch Stadium because it is such a historic club but with his ties to the Cubs that may be doubtful.

No modern stadium can match the intimacy of Wrigley or Fenway. Would be really surprised if they played any others; especially after hearing Ed say that the Cubs and Red Sox were his two favorite teams as a kid.

    Dodger Stadium would be cool.

What about other iconic sport venues such as Lambeau Field, Cameron Indoor Arena, Allen Fieldhouse, etc? I'd dig those.

I'm not saying this in a bad or negative tone but they'll play where they get PAID! If Dodger stadium gives them the pay day that Wrigley and Fenway has, I'm sure you'll be seeing them play ball parks all around the country.

As for Cameron indoor, screw that Duke sucks and it's not big enough, that's in a negative tone, I hate all things Duke!

just my opinion...I love Fenway, and had a great time there, but unless they set the stage up behind 2nd base or on the mound, the idea of a rock concert at a baseball field or any stadium for that matter kind of blows. It's great for the 3% that are up in the first 25 rows from the stage, but what about everyone else? What about all those obstructed views and all of those people that are just way too far away even see what's happening without the screens? I mean, I'm as big a fan as anybody, have a pretty terrible 10club number, my seats were 6 rows up from the field in between the 3rd base bag and the wall. For a game...no better seats in the building, seriously. For a concert, meh.

    image

as amazing as "the experience" was with my family, I wouldn't do it again unless I was in GA. I'd be more likely to put in my lotto picks for the smaller college dedicated hoops buildings with the 10 to 16k capacities, like Charlottesville, Lexington, or Columbia.

The pro basketball (but really pro hockey) arenas like in DC or PHL or Boston Garden, or the sheds would be always second, festivals and baseball stadiums prob last.

    I wouldn't go to a football venue.

Agree on Dodger Stadium. It is the only other baseball venue that could possibly fit with Fenway and Wrigley. If they start playing other ballparks the shows won't be as special.

I don't agree at all. Fenway and Wrigley happened in 2016 (and 2013) and were special. Yes, those are the two great old ballparks. But playing in, say, Target Field, won't diminish those shows in the least. The two coasts and the midwest's biggest draws would probably be Fenway, Wrigley, and Dodger Stadium. But bringing them to the ballparks in Denver, Minneapolis, Seattle, etc., etc., at least in my opinion, would not diminish that one bit.

I've never been to Dodger Stadium...while it's got some history, the whole "being in a big parking lot" thing seems like it would be a mess...the foot-traffic culture of Wrigley and Fenway beats the hell out of cars filing in and out in four-hour blocks before and after the shows. Places like PNC, Target Field, Petco, Coors Field would be more enjoyable than LA, if you ask me.

Plus maybe adding three or far ballparks would thin out some 10-club demand and improve all of our seats. I'd love it if they'd play any park they can make money on and and work out the logistics on.

There is no doubt that these ballpark shows are about the "destination" and the "atmosphere" more than the seating. I've been to all five (four this month and Wrigley 2013) and they are probably the five of the six worst seats I've ever had for a PJ show (and three were fanclub reserved, 238xxx). It's fun, but I am going to look forward to basic amphitheater or arena show. 10C tix are usually quite good for those.

My point was that Fenway and Wrigley were chosen specifically because of their historic nature. In that regard only Dodger Stadium could possibly compare. If they want to play other ballparks, great. But it would be something different than we just experienced.

Yeah, I think Fenway and Wrigley just because of the history of those places. I think they'll probably play Safeco Field at somepoint in the future, but I see them mostly sticking to arenas with some amphitheaters thrown in occasionally

Lexington is the biggest arena in the country at over 24k. But it was a great show there this year and it sounded awesome. I was kinda worried about that with how cavernous it is. But I'm with you, I'm kinda hoping they stick to those arenas

Not a baseball park, but I have to think that there's a good chance that they play Joe Louis Arena in Detroit before it gets torn down. With the Chelios connection and all.

The Red Wings are playing one final season there and its scheduled to be demolished sometime in summer/fall of 2017, I believe.

forget baseball parks, they need to go back to Roller Derby arenas like those London, Kitchener and Hamilton shows back in 2005. Those were the shit.
