    Damn, this thread sucks.
Thanks to the band for playing these long awaited shows. Awesome!

  • My girlfriend and I both agreed after Night 2 that the camera work done for the screens was excellent!! There was one part in particular during RVM that the cuts, editing and quick changes really captured the intensity of what was going on with the band on stage. Thought they did a great job.

Without reading any of this before, I assumed the black and white at the beginning was deliberate to capture the more acoustic and "intimate" performances at the start of the show. Then change to color once things got cranked up.
it's a fragile thing, this life we lead.

  • They've been doing black and white to color for a long time. Film crew does a great job and is one of best parts of show if you're sitting back. Lame thread.

  • As a photographer, I have to disagree. They were very creative with their angles and effects. Some people just have to complain about things so when you have an amazing band like Pearl Jam, you make up silly things like this

they used to not have a film crew so I would be happy with it if I were you.

This. I don't know the seats everyone else gets, but I have never seen a show from very close. Got lucky in '03 to be middle of the amphitheater for the first Mansfield show, and only a little back from there for the third. Usually, I'm in some variation of nosebleeds/back of the venue. The screens on this tour have been amazing. Yeah, it's cool to just be there and hear the show, but actually getting to see things like Mike shredding, or Matt Cameron looking like he's trying to murder his drum kit has been awesome. If you don't like the shot the director is using, close your eyes and enjoy the song (or use your own eyes, if you're in a position to do so).

Though it was pretty good, I'm assuming they weren't as drunk while filming as the were during the Q and A. I hope they release the video for the second night. There was a really cool shot I'd love to see again.....the super casual hand off of the guitar from mcCreedy to Matt's son(I'm assuming that was his son) so cool so casual wicked awesome. Lucky kid.

    Which song?
RITFW. I want a high quality video of the whole song! After Mike hands his guitar to Matt's son Ray, he goes over to help Matt out on drums. Then Jeff decides to hand his bass to Mike so Mike gives Jeff his drumsticks, and I guess Jeff figured Matt had the drums covered, and he just hit the sticks together. Oh, and J Mascis!

on night 2 they kept the camera on the same guy in the audience for too long. Even merged him with Eddie at the beginning of Better Man.

That guy was actually me. Just watched a video on YouTube of Better Man and realized it was me you're talking about. I have no idea what the film crew was thinking. On one hand it's amazing that I won front row dead center thanks to the 10C lottery and the director deemed me worthy of such an honor, but on the other hand you all had to watch it lol. My apologies.

Poor Jay not the most social fellow (listen to his interview on Marc Maron) looked a little like WTF is going on right now, when he saw the kid with the guitar, Jeff clicking the drumsticks like he really wished he had a cowbell, and Mike on bass. But none the less he absolutely destroyed the solo at the end, so glad this forefather has finally been getting some of the respect he deserves.

I've noticed that there is an overuse of black and white video for the screens at a lot of concerts lately, not just Pearl Jam. I do not like that trend at all. Must be en vogue or something, lol.

  • Haha no worries, man. No offense taken. I had no idea the camera was even on me. Only time I saw myself up on the big screen was out of the corner of my eye during Jeremy.
