somebody posted this a few days back:
"I wanted to let the PJ faithfull know that Pearl Jam requested a 4 hr set for Lollapalooza and they were granted persmission!!!
My friend is an event organizer and he told me the good news today.
It looks like it is going to be a sick show after all!!!"
sounds like b.s. to me.

Again, I think that this is b.s.
However, they may have asked for a 4 hour time slot so that they could go on later and play later. Like a 9:00-11:30 set or something.
I don't think that they'll treat this like a normal "festival" such as they do typically in Europe. One of two U.S. dates this year, Ed's hometown, 1st Lolla appearance since 92' etc.
Maybe wishful thinking but a 2 and 1/2 hours would be rad. Plus starting after it gets dark would be a plus imo as well.Raleigh 1992 - Raleigh 2003 - Charlotte 2003 - Asheville 2004 - Lollapolooza 20070 -

yeh i did some research and Pearl Jam played 30 mins over the curfew and got fined $75000 -
That would be 2 hours longer than the schedule shows and 2 hours past the end of last year's Lolla.0

i say it time and time again, this was my first cd/bootleg i bought in 2004. Got me hooked on the band ever since. I call it fate; I buy the 3-pack that turns out to have been the longest show every played up to that date, and I never even knew at the time. I bought the poster to commemorate even tho I wasn't there in spirit. I know the in between song dialogues verbatim2005: Borgata 2, Philly

To take it further, if you go by the schedule, it starts at 8 and never finishes. May I be the first to start the rumor they're going to play a continuous set forever! I know a guy who knows a guy who totally confirmed it!0 -
no way. they will go on at 8 and play until 1030. taking a small fine.0

Yep, I was so happy when they just kept coming back and playing. Was it 3 hours and 40 minutes originally? Or 3 20? I know a lot of crowd noise between encores was cut out on the boot, but you can't blame the band for taking a few minutes break in between a show that long. When it passed the 2.5 hour mark I just remember telling my wife "it's gonna be 3 CDs!" and then it really went longer. Back at the beginning, Perry Ferrell said PJ would get 3 hours.Chicago 8-23-090

Maybe the 4 hour time-frame includes setup and breakdown, like a PJ only show, which doesn't seem all that unreasonable. Figure they play 2 and 1/2 hours, that leaves an hour and a half of logistics.0
