Of course they are. Merch stands outside the venue make things far worse. Open the gates to the show an hour earlier and force people to carry the shit they buy. Limit everything sold that is show specific to 1 per person. EVERYTHING. Then get back in line if you want more. I'm supposed to take a week off to come to Boston early to get a shot at these posters? I don't get it.

It's great they do all this unique merch stuff for their shows, but it baffles me they don't care that they just create a market for the flipper scum to gouge real fans who just want a chance at the merch from the show they attend.

The problem is most of the flippers are "the real fans." It's 10C members funding their trips.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

It's just annoying. People walking out of the line with 12 posters.

    Unfortunately, that's the truth.

I think the band is a little bit out of the loop on the poster quantity thing. my understanding is that it's the poster artists that set the quantity limits for their products.

I think in the case of the 6 posters for Boston, it's actually PJ trying to help the situation by increasing the total quantity of posters available by having multiple aritsts do one. in the end I'm sure it won't matter.

I'd  some Wrigley gear - but ain't gonna happen. I've already come to terms. For 1 shouldn't spend the extra. For 2 don't and won't stand in line. For 3 I'm not paying above face for someone else standing for me
Oh please let it rain today.

Does anyone really need 5 or 6 posters? My plan for Wrigley is to find the best 1 or 2, and just go with that. If I have to buy off ebay instead of waiting 7 hours...that's probably not the worst thing in the world.

Interesting take -- hadn't heard that before.

Aren't you thinking of the total run of prints available versus the number people can purchase at one time at the merch stand though? I can't remember a show I've attended where there wasn't the intention of limiting the posters to 2 per person.

It's true. So limit everything to 1 (that is specific to that show/weekend like posters, pins, and stickers), and don't hold the sales outside the venue. Open the gates an hour earlier for those who want a shot at the merch, or figure out a fair way to do it online for the fans attending the show with a priority.

I like the convenience of not having to carry anything during the show, don't get me wrong, but it's not worth it in the end and it screws over too many fans.

There's zero reason someone should need to buy two posters. If you need more than one then get back in line.

Agreed. Allowing two of each is just asking for people to flip (which 10c says they dont want, but lowkey dont really care)

I don't think two is a bad thing. The band lets one person buy two fan club tickets, so I'm not against someone buying two to get one for their buddy.

I think six posters is obscene. But at Global Citizen there were four posters and two were great and sold out, and two weren't as good and were easy to get. I hope all six are great (don't count on it with two being Ames Bros), but if not then this may give people some chance who just want a souvenir poster and it doesn't have to be the best one of the bunch.

For special events like this, I have no problem with, 4, 5 or even 6 posters.

The less popular posters will become available for under $50 on ebay in a few weeks, if I'm determined to have one, I can go there. I don't mind paying a little extra to not have to stand in line.

I get that but more often I see a married couple buying a max of everything. Are they gonna hang 4 posters in their house?

I wouldn't be upset if they changed the limit to 1 per person but it would suck to not be able to get an extra for a friend. No sense two people wasting a few hours.

Supposedly there's a 2 item per person limit, hopefully the people running the merch stands honor that.

If they don't follow that this time around this is going to be a bloodbath lol. Nobody will get merch.

Also I assume they use events like Wrigley 13 as a gauge. I'm sure merch will be a more plentiful for these weekends.

Why wouldn't they want the prices to go bonkers, then they couldn't sell them for charities and make big money ala the Wrigley set they have had up several times the last few months. Let's not be naive and think the band doesn't want prices to shit their selves on ebay
  • MedozKMedozK Posts: 9,209

Yeah, hopefully it's a 2 per person limit.

That could still possibly be 12 posters if you can get two of each, I don't think they will limit people to only 2 total.

Ah... The mysterious 'friend'. I think in most cases the word friend is substituted for the high bidder on eBay. They should limit posters to one per person. No need to buy more than one.

I don't think most people buying 2 posters are flipping. I usually buy 2. 1 for me 1 for my brother or a friend who is standing in the ga line or who can't get there until later. Otherwise I check the board for someone who has posted that they are in a pinch and can't get to the venue as planned and wants a poster. I've never seen the merch table people allowing more than 2 per person though I've heard the stories as we all have.

I'm also doing the poster pool for elwayvedder for Fenway 2 so I need to buy 1 for me and 1 for that at least.

Friends do exist. I bought three NYC 1 posters (could have bought 4) for my two friends and me. But I get your point.

Both happen. Some people say friend and its truly for a friend. Some people say it to flip.

if i'm not mistaken that's what they did with Wrigley a few years ago, 2 posters per person. You could get all 4 posters twice.
