If you could only listen to three band's catalog's EVER, which ones?

brianluxbrianlux Posts: 42,051
Just for grins (or groans) if you could only, for EVER, for the REST OF YOUR LIFE only get to hear music by three bands which three would you choose? No combining, no cheating! For example, notice I did not say Dinosaur Jr/J Masic or Neil Young/Neil Young Crazy Horse. In other words you can list Neil Young or Neil Young and Crazy Horse but not both.

And yes, you can throw tomatoes at me but not in the face!

For me:

Dinosaur Jr.
The Replacements
Niel Young and Crazy Horse

And yes, I know it's Dinosaur Jr (no period). Oops!

  • Considering that there's bands/musicians which I love but with only a few albums, it'd have to be:
    Pearl Jam
    Black Sabbath
    The Who

Neil Young (I'd take ATGR, Harvest, Mirrorball, On The Beach etc over the Crazy Horse catalogue... just!)

    Pearl Jam

Ryan Adams (this was very close with Joseph Arthur and Mark Lanegan purely based on how prolific they all are. I'll probably change my mind before I've finished typing this!)

And "Tonight's the Night" is only part Crazy Horse so you can take that one along for the ride too. Come to think you it, I would claim it as a Crazy Horse record for my ride too!

I hear you, Cate. "Zuma" is an essential record for me as well.

Well if you're going to sneak in Tonight's The Night, I'll be claiming the solo side of Rust Never Sleeps! :)

Cool thread Brian (and yes, Zuma and Rust almost swayed the vote)

That was my exact 3 gut reaction to the question too. I could probably think it in circles for awhile, but best to stick with first thought.

The first 2 were easy choices, but trying to pick that last artist was torture. I wanted to pick Paul Kelly (Oz artist) but he has so many different releases under differing band configurations that I went with the Boss
