They can do whatever they want. Some people are getting spoiled and greedy.

Or maybe people just like to have an opinion about their favorite band. Some of you defend these set lists as if you wrote them. Nothing wrong for asking for variety from a band that is known for their ever changing set lists.

For me, the first two hours of the show are most entertaining. The last 30 minutes don't do much for me. I've seen a ton of shows though which the unfortunate consequence for me is usually a let down feeling when I hear the first few notes of Black, Alive, Jeremy, Porch, RITFW or Ledbetter played. They are such long songs and placed back to back usually.

W/ all due respect sir if you get let down from hearing the first few notes of a song live it is time to pass the torch.

No, it just means I would rather hear another song in their vast catalog.

I have zero complaints and would be perfectly okay with the same approach to every setlist each time to come in the future.

However, if I was able to choose what I would change, i would hang up RITFW for just a little while. Maybe a few more Fuckin Ups or something.

But again, no complaints, always love the shows!

I agree with the overall point. But I don't think there's any doubt we're going to hear Black and Alive in the 2nd encores. Arguably their two most popular songs in a huge venue full of casual/semi-casual fans. Die-hards will be the minority, I'm afraid. I'd love to be wrong.

I think Ledbetter will close both nights. Baba one night. RITFW for the other night.

Either way, I'm fired up for next weekend. Been waiting 7-8 months for these shows. (actually about 20 years really)

I love hearing it changed up a bit and getting some rarities, but am looking forward to some of their classic live standards played in the Fenway atmosphere...Lukin/Not For You, etc...as many times as I've witnessed RITFW as the encore, I've been fantasizing of hearing that at Fenway with the house lights on for months!

Right, I may be tired of those songs but I'm not saying they shouldn't be played in the encores. Selfishly I wish they were moved around more but I understand there are thousands of people there and Ed knows how to put together a kick ass setlist.

I think PJ keeps a formula in the final encore to send most of the fans home happy. They've been doing this for 25 years- they understand what the die hard fans want and what the casuals and one timers want. After 23 shows, I'm perfectly content with getting some out of body crazy rare moments earlier in sets and then the hits to close the shows. Especially considering many other bands don't change their sets at all or very little.

But yes, everyone is looking for different things and I understand the OP and others suggestions.

Thank you. I don't think it's a crime for suggesting the band to change it up a little. Just because I'm a fan of the band, doesn't mean I can't critique them or have to agree with everything they do. Some fans follow this band blindly. It truly is unbelievable.

Also just because I'm suggesting to change the setlist doesn't mean I don't like Yellow Ledbetter, Alive, Black, or Porch, etc, etc.

They'll get right on that. I'm OK with whatever they play.

So you're saying that they're going to start playing Get Right as an encore? Nice!!!

They played Breath in Massachusetts for the first time since 2003.
They played I've Got A Feeling for the first time since 2004.
They played Masters Of War for the first time since 2008.
They gave us Off He Goes and NAIS before the sun went down on Sunday.
They closed a set on Friday with Corduroy for the first time in years.

agree with the overall point wholeheartedly that the 2nd encore is way too predictable

Crazy how fast people get spoiled on here. Sure, more variation would be nice, but the fact that they even HAVE variation in the first place is what makes this band a step ahead of everyone else.

It creates a chicken/egg problem though.  Because Pearl Jam changes their setlist's every night, people travel around and go to multiple shows.   Because PJ fans go to a lot of shows, they get bored of the songs that get played at every show :)

Vary the setlist, haha, try seeing Metallica back to back only about three songs will be different.   I think PJ does a great job with the setlists.

Don't worry, they'll have six covers for us!

I am just not too sure why they vary the main setlist so much, like make a huge point of it, but then won't do it with the encore ... It's just kind of strange. It's like two clashing philosophies.
