PJ Needs to Vary Setlist (Encores) for Fenway and Wrigley Shows

Hi all,
I am only going to Fenway 2 but after seeing the band 3 times this tour, I think it is time to vary the setlist a little. It was the first time ever I felt I had seen the same encores and almost the same show put on by PJ. For the most part the main sets have been great, but my problem is the encores. Every first encore ends with Porch and begins with Ed / the band playing slow songs, most main sets end with Do The Evolution, and of course every concert ends with the humdrum rotation of Alive into Baba O Riley / Rockin In The Free World into Yellow Ledbetter or Indifference (or something of that form).

I think it would be a breath of fresh air to change it up. Come out with a song like Wishlist or In Hiding for the first encore or end the main set with Alive or end the show with something like Elderly Woman --> Given To Fly --> Yellow Led Better or throw Black or Porch into the middle of the main set. I just think it would be awesome to see a change.

I don't think we will see much similarity in any of the four shows IMO

As long as Pearl Jam plays Pearl Jam songs, I will be a happy Pearl Jam fan.

I agree that ending the first set with RVM and the 1st encore with Porch has gotten a little overdone. But I still really love those songs, so I'm semi ok with always hearing them, just need to move them to a different spot in the set.

I like the slow songs in the beginning of the 1st encore, you usually get a pretty rare one that you have been chasing awhile.

^^ Agreed, I felt very fortunate to see All or None and Parachutes on this last tour during those quiet encore moments. In fact, I might look forward to that part of the show the most as you never know what you're gonna get.

But completely agree with RVM and Porch. Love em, but I don't like knowing when a set is about to end, variety would be cool.

Same here. I could hear RVM a thousand times and it wouldn't be enough. And I like the slow start to the second encore too. Always a rare little gem thrown in there! I do get sad when I hear Alive, though, because it means the end is near.

They could easily play both shows with zero repeats... but they won't... and I don't blame them, these shows are a big deal and they will try to put on the biggest and best show they can both nights... this is why I'm completely content with just going to 1 show at Fenway

End the show with anything but YLed. I wouldn't mind them retiring that song for a while, so it would make it special again when they eventually pull it out of the blue.

PJ 2nd encores are definitely where they need the most work. They are way too predictable and repetitive.

I rarely see the band though, and haven't seen them many times at all, and I still feel that way. Why would they close their shows with the same stuff all the time, year in and year out? It doesn't make sense to me, especially for Pearl Jam.

I wish they'd put the choppy intro to Porch away for a while.
  • Pearl Jam has been around for too long and fans are getting tired.
They should spare us all from having to listen to their music over and over again.
    Pearl Jam please retire.

    Black
    Alive
    RITFW or Baba
    Yellow Ledworse

Usually one other song but those 4 are almost a guarantee in the final encore.

At first I thought this topic would be whining and complaining, but you brought up a great point.

A little change in these next 4 shows couldn't hurt.

So a band that you rarely see and haven't seen many times at all you would not want to hear the songs that you think they repeat too much? What?
Which encore songs did they play at the concert you saw?
