Ken Griffey Jr. "THE KID". Who else was a fan of his growing up?

photo GRIFFEY PJ HALL OF FAME 2016_zpsnrhxtzno.png

Any other Ken Griffey Jr fans out there? Growing up as a baseball fan in the early 90's, Ken Griffey Jr was one of my favorite players. I can still remember how in awe I was of that beautiful, natural swing of his. The Kid could do it all on the field. He not only was amazing offensively, but he was outstanding in center field as well. One of the best to play the game in my opinion. This Sunday he officially gets inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Such a sweet swing. Too bad injuries slowed him down when he got to Cincinnati or else he probably would have ended up with over 700 HR.

And Ken Griffey baseball for N64 is one of the best video games of all time. Spent countless hours playing that back in the day.

I think 1/2 my high school had the blue fitted hat with the yellow S. I wanted to make it to Cooperstown next month just because Griffey would be in, however the Hall won't work this summer.

How could you not be a fan of his? Unfortunately I didn't get to see too much of him on the east coast.

Three idiot baseball writers don't think he's a first ballot HOFer. They should never be allowed to write about any sport, let alone baseball, ever again. I absolutely loved watching The Kid play!

Loved watching Junior play. He was my favorite non-Braves player growing up. He had one of the best pure swings in the game.

    Agree with you 100%.

There are a handful of players that should have gotten 100% of the votes, but didn't because of these stuck up snobby bitches.

    Ken Griffen
    Greg Maddux
    Tony Gwynn
    Rickey Henderson
    Hank fucking Aaron

I loved KGJ, but I always wondered if he flirted with PEDs. Especially in his last year in Seattle and his first year in cincy. Obviously the guy could hit the cover off the ball and could play center field better than most in the history of the game. But thise injuries. He was always hurt. He would hit the DL for what seemed like a hang nail. I'm not saying he did, but the amount of time he spent on the DL definitely makes me question whether or not he used.

Crazy to think he's in the Hall of Fame at the same age Nolan Ryan retired. Calling him "the kid" is right.

IMO the greatest player to play his entire career in my lifetime. Gold glover in CF with crazy power numbers. Our generations Willie Mays. Played OF growing up in little league. You wanted to make plays in CF like the kid!

That came into my mind when he was getting injured so frequently. It's hard not to suspect. He's lucky the writers didn't suspect or they would have not let him in. Like they almost did to Piazza. Because they thought he used.

Like they did do to piazza. I was surprised he got in, to be honest. Not that he doesn't deserve it. But there was always suspicion swirling around him.

it's not out of the question.

the story goes that after the sosa/mcgwire summer, Bonds announced to GRIFFEY, over dinner at junior's house, that he (bonds) was going to start juicing too. would you make that announcement to Mr. Clean? basically, all the guys who got outed for steroids either had rats in the clubhouse (yankees and mets), the feds and a newspaper after them (Balco) or were listed by a miami alternative newspaper.

Damn near everyone in the 90s juiced. MLB promoted it. Now the MLB and these stuck-up, two-faced writers (who LOVED the decade of 95-05 when everyone was smashing the shit out of the ball) want to backtrack and denounce anyone ever suspected of juicing. Fuck em. It was part of the sport. It wasn't against MLB rules at the time. McGwire should be in, Bonds should be in, Clemens should be in, Palmeiro should be in, Sosa should be in. Piazza & Griffey deserve every bit of HOF status!

I agree. It wasn't just the hitters either. It was as part of the game as amphetamines and coke was in the 70s and 80s. Bonds, Mcguire, sosa, palmerio, and clemens should all be in. Along with bagwell, thome, and whoever else.

I gotta nix Sosa, tho.....to me, he was nothing but a steroid player. Unlike the others, I saw nothing to suggest HOF without steroids.
