TOTD has about 45 minutes of material... what else will be played live?

JB128716JB128716 Posts: 2,064
So I'm estimating that TOTD has about 45 minutes of material. I'm guessing so don't correct me. I'm assuming the live shows will be at least 90 minutes (if not longer). I also find it hard to believe Ed would do the whole tour for one song.

So let the speculation begin!!!!

Would you want to see any of the following:
1. Ed doing a solo set or bringing out some friends and be the opening act?
2. Mad Season material?
3. Mother Love Bone material?
4. PJ material sung by Chris?
5. Any of Chris's material?
6. Any of the other guy's solo stuff?
7. Unreleased stuff?
8. Cover Songs?

Something else?

I think at this point after so many years of seeing PJ live it would be weird seeing Pearl Jam come onstage without EV.

I came to the forum to post the same question. You certainly covered all of the options. I feel Mad Season is likely because Cornell sang on their recent shows and I'm sure Jeff, Stone, and Matt can learn it. They can do MLB and considering the band already does Crown of Thorns that seems obvious. Cornell covers Betterman in his solo shows so that is possible. Not sure how much Soundgarden will happen, probably simpler numbers to play. Maybe Cornell solo acoustic versions. Let's pretend it's the Seattle show where Ed is very likely to attend. Setlist so far:

    Reach Down
    Pushin Forward Back
    Your Saviour
    Four Walled World
    Say Hello 2 Heaven
    River of Deceit
    Long Gone Days
    Call Me a Dog
    Wooden Jesus
    Crown of Thorns
    Stardog Champion (w/ Shawn Smith)
    Seasons (Cornell acoustic)
Black Hole Sun (Cornell acoustic w/McCready)
Fell on Black Days (Cornell acoustic w/Gossard)
Times of Trouble (Footsteps mashup with Vedder)
    Hunger Strike (w/Vedder)

That would be an awesome set. I think play all the other stuff first then the temple of the dog material. Close with crown of thorns

I don't think anybody would complain with a set like this. But I found myself asking the exact same question when the tour was announced. Could there be a possibility of some new material? One would have to figure they would be doing some PJ songs along with some Soundgarden songs. They definitely will be doing some MLB songs, as Cornell has done some covers in the past. How involved will Ed be in the tour? Either way looks like this is going to be one helluva an experience.

Is it 5 songs or 2 songs? I briefly went through it and it said 7 demos, 2 of which were previously unreleased. If you play the album (including hunger strike if Eddie is included in this reunion) plus 2 songs, and banter between songs you could get past an hour. It'll be an epic hour :)

PJ or SG material should not be played. This is much more exclusive.
But Brad should be the opening band. Really, it should be that simple.
It has Shawn Smith (friend of Andy) and Regan Hagar (former bandmate of Andy) and Stone offcourse ;).

The set should be all the TOTD songs. So the whole album + those unreleased tracks.
Then for the encore a couple Mother Love Bone songs with Chris and Shawn Smith trading leads. Shawn could also play keys on some TOTD songs like 'All night thing'.

    So something like:

    -Support act: Brad

    Set:
    - Say hello 2 heaven
    - Wooden Jesus
    - Pushing Forward back
    - Your Savior
    - Hunger Strike
    - Call me a dog
    - Times of trouble
    - Angel of Fire
    - All night thing
    - Black Cat
    - Four Walled World
    - Reach Down

    Encore:
    -Stardog Champion
    -This is Shangrilla
    -Holly Roller
    -Hold your head Up
    -Crown of thorns.

So 45 min Brad and about 2 hours TOTD....

    I'm guessing...

    all TOTD material
    2 or 3 MLB
    1 Mad Season
    1 or 2 PJ
    2 or 3 SG
3 covers(Zep Thank You, Hendrix Hey Baby)

    20-22 songs per show

    My total guess is:
    all the ToTD songs
then selections from Mad Season/Mother Love Bone/various covers.
    no PJ/SG songs.
Shawn Smith possibly opening in light of the recent news.

I love speculating about this stuff

Chris sings "Footsteps", would be cool to see Times of Trouble -> Footsteps back to back. :sunglasses:

I think River of Deceit is a lock.

As far as covers, I'm sure they can do anything that PJ already does, Chris can learn it all.

I want to say that Eddie would be at all of the shows, but I'm not too sure. I think this is where I "draw my hype line." I can't hope for Eddie to be there because then I would definitely be disappointed. I'm so excited to just hear the entire TOTD album, I will be ecstatic if I can just get that.
