Probably not. I'm not a guitar player. Just curious. Would love to have it hanging on my wall. But my wife would kick my ass if I spent money on it. I would buy it if it was actually played by Mike on stage. Too bad they aren't doing that like the Ediie Van Halen guitars that he played on stage, signed, and sold few years back.

Yeah, I was wondering cos' you were selling a bunch of stuff last month. I've been playing for 20 + years and have recently decided that my Epiphone, which is $7k less than this thing, sounds fucking incredible with everything I've got set up wise. Total collector's item. Hopefully nobody else who plays gets pulled into the trap that this guitar will some how make them a better player.

I decided to keep my stuff I was gonna sell. Actually my wife talked me into keeping it... Go figure huh? Didn't want to get rid of it but, but thought I could put the money away for more retirement savings. Fuck it, only live once. Can't take any of it with me anyway. At least I can look at this stuff and play the vinyl when I get a player. Can't look at the extra money in the bank...
We’re thrilled to announce the latest Artist Replica from Gibson Custom Shop, the Mike McCready 1959 Les Paul. Known primarily for his work in Pearl Jam (let’s not forget Mad Season and Temple of the Dog), Mike McCready reached a new generation of guitarists in the early 90’s and continues to fill arenas while playing his original 1959 Les Paul (said to be originally owned by the guitarist in Van Morrision’s original band “Them”).
As you would expect, the wear is extensive. On the aged and aged/signed, Gibson recreated that wear. On all versions they’ve recreated the guitar’s subtle caramel and yellow colors (categorized as tea ‘burst) and the searing tone that’s been a big part of Mike’s sound for so long. The run is, of course, based on extensive hands-on study of the original and scanning of its neck profile and top carve.
Furthermore, it’s the first to offer two levels of specification: True Historic Specs (50 aged & signed) and Standard Historic Specs on aged unsigned and VOS models.

I bought Air Jordan's and magically had the ability to dunk
I don't think that anyone buying this is buying it because they think it will make them a better guitar player. Kind of a silly assumption of a reason for purchase.

It's definitely an investment piece. It's a beautiful guitar, wish I could afford one.

So has anyone contacted a local store? Curious how much under retail they are actually selling these at - imagine not as much as a normal Gibson would go under list price.
Looks amazing - will likely never own one, but so cool.
It really is a great guitar. And I'm not just saying that because it's got Mike's name on it. It has a crunch and bite that's unlike any Les Paul I've played before. That was the first thing that really jumped out at me and the guys in the shop when we plugged it in. It's also light weight for a Les Paul.
The detail in the aging is nuts. I've had a couple of aged Les Pauls, and the McCready is so far beyond the others that I've had my hands on... it's just unreal. I'm very happy with it.
I will take better pics soon! It looks so different in pictures than it does in person. And it's crazy how different it looks out in the sun vs indoors. It really looks old. Not just aged, but actually looks old.
