Well I'm unashamedly biased, because I traveled from Melbourne, Australian to see Toronto and Quebec City just to see these two shows..... but regardless... I think these were awesome..!!!
I've got a Gibson without a case, but I can't get that even tanned look on my face...
The Crowd went ape shit the entire time, as soon as the first chords to betterman are played and the crowd roars, it gives me goosebumps to this day, same goes for when Ed asks for help on the singing at the begining of Jeremy! A VERY underated boot, so says I!
Ottawa......one of the best shows i've ever seen!!!!! Amazing night!
7.5.03 Camden I, 10.2.04 Toledo, 9.15.05 Montreal, 9.16.05 Ottawa, 10.1.05 Atlantic City, 5.13.06 Hartford, 5.27.06 Camden I, 5.30.06 DC, 6.3.06 NJ II, 7.7.06 San Diego, Lollapalooza 2007, 6.24.08 MSG I, 6.25.08 MSG II, 6.27.08 Hartford, 6.28.08 Mansfield I, 6.30.08 Mansfield II, 10.28.09 Philly II, 10.30.09 Philly III, 10.31.09 Philly IV
Honestly, I get the impression that every show on that tour was special to those in attendence, even moreso than at your typical Pearl Jam show.
I was at the two St. John's shows and, given the circumstances, it was probably the most memorable weekend of my life--anyone else who was there, especially for night 1, would agree with me.
That said, anyone who attended shows in London, Kitchener, Halifax, Saskatchewan, Ottawa, etc. etc. probably feels exactly the same way that I do.
I've seen Pearl Jam in Montreal and they were amazing, but nothing has ever compared to seeing my favourite band in that tiny hockey arena with everyone I know there with me--throw in the fact that we kept randomly running into the guys on the streets of St. John's and the fact that several specific references were made by Stone and Ed that told us they had actually taken the time to get to know our small corner of the world--well, that put an amazing concert experience into an entirely different context for this small town boy (seriously, it's a big deal in St. John's if Avril Lavigne or Bryan Adams actually bother to grace you with their presence...*shudder*).
For the record, I've never heard 8,000 people react that loudly to anything, and as a diehard from 1991 right up until the present day, I can't find any fault with those setlists either--Leaving Here, Can't Keep, In My Tree, State of Love and Trust, Bee Girl, Light Years, Don't Gimme No Lip, U, Man of the Hour. I could be greedy and demand more, but seriously...
I'm sure anyone who wasn't there would disagree with me, but I wouldn't have traded those two shows in that building at that time for any other Pearl Jam experience anywhere else...I'm sure you all feel likewise about your shows...
ya davey, that pearl jam weekend in st. john's was the best weekend of my life. My favorite band in the world and I never thought that they would ever come to Newfoundland!! They were amazing shows for everyone here thats for sure.

Ahhhhh...2005 what a great tour...back in 98 at Barrie Ed mentioned that he would love to come back and do a bunch of small shows and they did it - we are very lucky!!!!! Kitchener and London were unbelievable..unfortunately I picked Toronto (but still had a great time) over Hamilton. Due to family duties that is all I could afford to do. I would have loved to have followed them coast to coast. Everyone who saw them in their home towns for the first time will never forget what a thrill it was.
Peace,
