Does anyone every wonder why alot of PJ songs are played superfast?

asif its a record being played in a faster speed than normal

Do they speed things up to be able to play alot of songs in total?

honestly sometimes i wish they played some songs a bit more in the studio pase... sometimes its just 'crazy fast' ...

    what do you all think?
your right I used to be in a band and it seems like when we played live we allways played the songs faster..I guess the nerves and the adrenaline still get to PJ,,,

Bushleaguer in St. Paul '03 seemed slower than on Riot Act.

The songs that would become Ten from Mookie Blaylock's first gig at the Off-Ramp Cafe, are played a lot slower than on the album.

  • The studio versions of Even Flow and Given to Fly are too slow.

World Wide Suicide is played too fast sometimes though.

But hey, I'm not going to complain

Adrenaline can cause musicians to speed up and get excited, but the pace they are playing their songs currently is totally premeditated. They listen to the tapes. If it was accidental, well, they have been playing together for almost 20 years. They can fix it.They played the same songs for 15 years without playing them this fast.
I love the sped up versions, I think they're fun and energetic.

  • Well, they're not the Ramones, I'll tell you that much.

There's a lot of bands that speed up the songs live. Why do they do that? To get the show over with faster? To press in more songs in the set? Don't know, but I know that I hate it. However there's a few songs where it actually serves the song right, one of them being Alive.
