I've always enjoyed this version - the overdrive at the end of this take I don't think has ever been duplicated live elsewhere.

    Grateful for Binaural in Toronto.
Perfection. They killed Grievance and Hail, Hail on Letterman. Best performances of both songs. I love Mike on this one and Stone on Hail, Hail.
hehe Stone literally forgets how to play Hail, Hail on Letterman

Here’s all my ticket stubs from Binaural tour. Happy Binaural day, y’all.
    That’s awesome 😀
Glad you liked it. I pulled them out of my ticket album. Hadn’t handled them in a while and I was feeling very nostalgic about Binaural tour, man.

The one album where I dig the live cuts more than the studio cuts. The sharper sound of the guitars live really made me get into the songs I heard all over again.

Amazing album that has gotten better with time. Parting Ways is one of my favourite songs and my white whale. Would be an amazing song to hear live someday. Happy 21!

Fantastic album. Got to see 3 shows that tour. Missed Vegas without realizing it was 10th anniversary show. Buddy was ready to go but I didn’t pull the trigger

So it makes sense (if MC was here) they'd play it 2nite.
  • I still can't believe Sad and Fatal aren't on that record. Nothing as it seems is an incredible track, a Mccready solo classic - it's not supposed to be a first single to get casual fans excited about a new album. Sad would have been perfect. I know - who cares about the casual fans, and they're a live band ect ect

I don't think Sad would have blown up on the charts in 2000. Eddie wasn't wearing a red Yankees cap or a baggy white shirt.

Yeah you're probably right, it might not have made a big difference. I just think it's a rocker and my choice for #1 from the binaural session :)

I remember the day so well because I was GROUNDED and almost couldn't grab the album.

I was 16, and just five days prior, was cited for underage drinking in the parking lot of a Chili Peppers/Foo Fighters show. My parents grounded me for a month, took away my stereo, and wouldn't let me drive to and from school.

Binaural release date comes and I can't grab the album because Mom won't let me. She picked me up from school, and on the way home, she had to run into CVS to do some mom-stuff. I darted for the Blockbuster that was right next door, bought Binaural, hid it from them, and listened on headphones for a month.

Mom following the grounding: "Okay, now you can go buy that Pearl Jam CD that you've been whining about."

Me: Oh...okay Mom. Thanks! (Like I haven't listened to it a hundred times already)

I remember getting the CD and not being impressed with Breakerfall and skipping tracks to listen to the start of each song to see if any of them caught me.  This is, of course, a ridiculous way to evaluate new music.

Ten years later Binaural probably became my favorite album behind Yield.

I was 18 and took the CD to a house party ( 😂 ) the week it was released.   Someone ended up throwing a full bottle of Bud directly at my head, which is fair tbh.

I agree with you, this is my favorite version. No doubt. Followed by the Bellingham, Washington one.

Happy birthday l! Had a blast on that tour… saw 8 shows and loved them all.

I’m surprised that Insignificance has not been resurrected for this tour considering the situation in Ukraine.  One of many lost gems of the PJ catalog… only played 8 times in the last 10 years. 🥲

At first I just thought it was OK.  Nothing special.  It's really grown on me over the years and now it's fantastic.  First show was the Binaural tour.  I had always loved PJ from day 1 in 92.  Going to that show and the release of all the boots right at the same time turned my love into a full blown obsession.
Favorite song off it has always been Parting Ways.  Magnificent song that is incredible live.  Benaroya Hall 2003, Grand Rapids 2006, and Toronto 2016 are standout live versions.  Love the one from Lubbock, TX 2000 that is on the Touring Band 2000 DVD.  Now there is a good way to celebrate Binaurals birthday.  Watch that DVD in its entirety.

same....Yield, Binaural, Riot Act are my trifecta but it took me several years to figure out how great Binaural and RA were.
