Not ridiculous. REM called it quits when everyone was still healthy and into music. I don't think they will stop touring any time soon but not a ridiculous question to discuss to pass some time.
Just like Widespread Panic. They're calling it quits on touring after 2016. They'll still do a few shows a year, like their Red Rocks run and Jazz Fest in New Orleans, etc. But no more tours. It's not like they can't sell out arena shows, they're not having any problem at doing that.
One day the band will no longer play shows or tour, it is an eventual reality. Hopefully they don't end up like Motorhead, continuing to play until one drops.

It strikes me again and again especially this time around. Every time I am part of a sold out arena listening to this band I always wonder how many people aren't. Are we an audience that follows or does Pearl Jam strike every city.

I like to think when I am at a Pearl Jam concert that at that particular moment I am at the coolest place on Earth. That is impossible to prove, except for maybe when someone like Sting shows up and playing Driven to Tears at MSG. THen you know that out of the 6 billion people in the world you are one of the fortunate few to be at the coolest place on earth.

I think 10 more would be great. Anymore and we would be watching 60 year old rockstars singing alive. I don't know if I could stomach that.
Would love to go see PJ when they are in 60's as will I and hearing Alive and relishing in being alive and taking me back to my earlier years.
This is a tired fked up thread. PJ is doing lots of shows, some of their best work and Debbie downers want to discuss it ending. Really? This is what floats around in your brains?
I'd rather they tour less every year if it keeps the hunger alive to continue touring longer down the road.

25 more years!!! Then maybe some gigs in the nursing home circuit.
Whoa! Reserved seating down front will come back again? Fans will have lyrics on sheets to follow the new tunes with @ the nursing home circuit? Can't wait!
Weird Al Yankovic few months back toured across Canada via the casino circuit. Just imagine if PJ went that route 25 years from now.
