Binaural Live...Was there a Reason

So afterwards on this tour stories came out about why VS and Ten were played.
In Greenville evidently because it was Record Store day they got a wild hair to "play a record"
In Philly the Ten Banner was raised.

Was there any discussion as to a specific reason Binaural was played?

I noticed 7 of the songs made their live debut on 5/10/00 (http://www.livefootsteps.org/setlist/?show_id=485) and 3 additional others were played that day.

Perhaps this is part of the reason? Just curious if the band mentioned anything last night

Maybe it has to do with the date change on Toronto 2! I think the band felt they owed something extremely special that night for all the fans that could not make arrangements that planned on being there both nights.

They didn't even acknowledge that they played it--they just played it.

I would think to make up for rescheduled night 2

Maybe to make everyone shut the hell up about them not playing any binaural songs

I think this one was a little more spontaneous. Ed probably just decided randomly that he wanted to do it. Pretty sure that's what happened with the No Code and Yield shows.

They played it for me because it was my birthday and it is my favorite album of theirs and they knew I was putting in the time to be right up front. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

they played it because the venue that they were playing in Toronto is the only one in that offers binaural sound reproduction.

Binaural was the first album they made with Matt Cameron as drummer, a lot of times we forget that

  • I still think the band is either done, or going away for a long time. That's my theory behind the full album plays, requests, crazy crowd interactions, set lists, walk on music, and pure speculation.
