    You the man!
Why? Because he simulates to know anything more? Why doesn't he tell us what he knows?
I think he gives us the information he feels comfortable passing on without pissing off his source. Best we can ask for.

Happy for European fans to see ed..im not sure what his arrangement will be for these shows but i think he needs to mix it up a bit..seems like basically the same solo gig for years now..great for 1st timers but i would be hesitant to go to multiple shows unless some changes..c average back up band? Lol

He has played a total of six solo shows in Europe. I really don't care if it's the same thing that you've had dozens of chances to see

  • Cruise control?! Outside of ITW. Ed's solo shows have really evolved. Sure he will throw in some new songs too. Ed's solo sets have more variety than 95% of touring acts right now.

Ed might have to open for Glen in Dublin lol

Seriously though... if Glen is the opener... and the tour stops in Dublin... there will be no better show to see on this Euro tour.

Lots of activity on the Lolla Reddit message boards around PJ at Lolla Chi this year. It makes sense since it's been 10 years since they last played. Anyone else hearing this rumor?

Since 2011 PJ's openers have either been X or Mudhoney. They mostly do no openers now. Ed has used Glen on the last several legs of his tours. I'm saying they have found a pattern that works for them. Not saying they don't mix up their setlists.

    Nothing wrong with it.

Definitely, Europe hasn't had a lot of Ed solo. He has toured since 2008 using the same format (which is undeniably great) so those of us in the USA have had plenty of opportunities to catch his show.

I've only been able to see Ed solo once in the States and he hasn't really done a solo tour here since 2012... so a five year break from the same old story would be fine with me. I think Hansard and Vedder sing perfectly together, they could duet for the rest of their solo careers together and I'd be fine with it. Maybe they will finally release the album they recorded together this year and that's why this tour is coming together.

If Ed is doing a full euro solo tour i hope this means a new solo record is coming! Remember he did record an albums worth of songs for Out Of The Furnace a few years ago. So maybe he is finally releasing that!?
Id actually look forward to this more than a new pj record right now! Maybe US dates in the fall then.

  • Enjoy Euro fans! Would love an EV solo tour back in the states though. Last I saw PJ was in 2014 in St. Paul. The closest I've seen since then was Jack Irons opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers a few months back. Well, I actually showed up 30 min late and missed Jack completely, so never mind.

I've seen Eddie solo 7 times and wouldn't hesitate to see that same show again. Enjoy, Europe.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I've only seen one solo show, but it was pretty damn good (The first Vancouver show in '08). I'd go again. I didn't think play on one's own with a few hours worth of songs was repetitive. I kind of thought he played different sets just like pj does?

So when Ed does some solo stuff does that rule out any band stuff for the year? Or still hope for some West Coast shows in the fall?

There have been solo and full bands shows in the same year before
When PJ played the Big Day Out fest. in 2014 in Australia Ed hung around post tour and did his solo tour after that.

Jumping in late and sorry if I'm going over old ground but what do you think the chances are of PJ in Europe this summer? Am delighted at news about Eddie solo ( and really hoping for Dublin or UK) but have to confess, would have preferred news of a PJ tour...
