yeah the irony of it all!

turns out if you put a formal request in for a day off,
then they refuse you the day, because of short staffing issues,
you cannot call out sick on that day or you face a disciplinary session.

    oh well.

That is a tough rule. Make a guy scared to ask for any day off, incase you really get sick.

honest question ... I'm seriously curious, because I don't know anyone that works for a union ...

Does the union actually give you benefits worth the dues you pay ... or ... is it more a legal shakedown of workers these days?

    honest answer :

i can only speak for my case,
and with all of my medical problems, my insurance alone is worth another few thoussands, if not 10 thousand added onto my yearly income.
sure, there are alot of political mumbo jumbo affairs and even politics ( that you are not comitted or mandated to take part in if you choose not to )
my union is one of the biggest in the country : ( and still growing )

I'm not holding out hope on EMEK ... I own the original Coachella print, which is still my fave print of everything I own (I was lucky enough to be one of the people that got this for $20 at the show) ... it's one of the ones that had a little scuffing on the back, does no harm to the front at all, but, I'd love a minty mint one.

Assume he's just going to put up the variants, which, there are so few of, and quite honestly, not as nice as the original ... but, firg ... I'd still grab one as they are amazing.

He's also got the EODM print too I think ...

I bought one on ebay that arrived damaged. got my money back and kept the damaged poster, but I sure would like a mint one. Of course I've never had any luck with emek's sales. Shut out every time.

    Very, very niiiiiiiiice as usual.

    Peace,
    KJ

FYI... I had emailed Big Pop about my Abe Lincoln Lolla poster a few days ago and received this tonight:

    "Hello,
Some went out last week, some are going out today and the last of them will go out next Tuesday. Your order should be to you shortly.

Thought some of you might like to know they're on their way!

    Waiting on:

    4 x Klausens
    2 x Emek (just handbills...)

I think that's it. Emphasis on the "think." Sometimes I forget and there's a surprise waiting for me when I get home from work.

I got another one last night as a result of a quasi-drunken impulse buy:

    http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/65786

I went to the liquor store last night to buy a pack of Surly (Minnesota's new crown jewel of a brewery) and saw this thing hanging by the checkout (taped at the corners with a big tear in it :( ). Recognized it as a Turman, saw it was signed and numbered and realized I had to track one down. After a few beers I found the poster on Surly's website.

Can't wait to hang it in my bar area...I also can't wait to actually have a bar area someday.

Hey D ... what's up? You coming down for Bridge School? Rebecca says hi. She's singing on Saturday but we'll be at the Sunday show. If you're in the area, let us know.

I saw a tube at my door today and expected it to be this, nope from Mr Slater ... the Woflmother looks *fantastic* up close ... love my matching Morrissey set too.
