New Orleans, LA

Set List

Walk On Music: It Happened Today-R.E.M
Steve Gleason Introduction: 4:36
Band On Stage: 4:36
Band Off Stage: 06:45

01. State Of Love And Trust
02. Arms Aloft In Aberdeen (as Arms Aloft In New Orleans)--(Bullen, Shields, Slattery, Stafford, Strummer)
03. Mind Your Manners
04. God’s Dice
(Ed greets the audience and comments on how colorful they are. He likes it here because they not only tolerate colorful people but celebrate it. “Of course if you really want to see colorful people get arrested at about three in the morning. I know from experience. I don’t recommend it.”)
05. Setting Forth
06. Corduroy
07. Nothingman
08. In Hiding
(Ed talks about the band still reeling from Prince’s death. He talks about the cover of Even Flow
that Prince played with 3rdEyeGirl and how they played “the shit out of it.” They hope to play they shit out of it as well in honor of Prince.)
09. Even Flow
10. Sirens (short outro)
11. Unthought Known
12. Long Road (“Michael requested this song for his brother John who passed away. Something I know too much about.”)
13. Daughter
(“Is this our version of jazz? This is about as close as it gets..”)
14. Of The Earth
15. Last Exit
16. Porch

Encore Break One

17. Go (Vs album start)
(Ed is glad the audience got to meet their friend Steve Gleason. He mentions the documentary coming out called Gleason. This one goes out to Steve.)
http://www.teamgleason.org

18. Inside Job
19. Given To Fly
20. Lightning Bolt (during intro of the song Ed spots a hat in the audience and asks if he can have it. I can’t see it but I think it is “Make Donald Drumpf Again" from John Oliver)
(Ed praises the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He talks about how well they treated them when Pearl Jam opened for the Peppers. “If I wasn’t for the Peppers I would probably be hearing ‘Mr. Vedder clean up on aisle 3 or maybe I would be working at the legal pot store in Seattle.” This song is from when I was working in the drug store.)

21. Better Man/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling)
22. Do The Evolution
23. Alive
24. The Real Me-(Townshend) with the horn section: Skerik-saxophone, Carly Meyers-trombone, Big Sam Williams-trombone, Drew Baham-trumpet
25. Rockin' In The Free World-(Young)
(Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Pepper plays drums, Matt Cameron plays guitar, Nathan Followill on tambourine “over qualified, I know” Josh Klinghoffer from RHCP also plays guitar. additional guests)

    ROCKED.

GREAT setlist, especially for a festival. Maybe Gleason wrote it again?

Ed and Mike were on fire.

Some people in the set list thread suggested the crowd looked dead, can't say I can comment, but that doesn't mean the band aren't absolutely fucking killing it. Glad to hear there are lots of positive reviews!

4 unplayed songs tonight...Arms Aloft, Gods Dice, In Hiding, The Real Me.

Not many bands would play 4 songs that they hadn't played yet on tour at a festival gig.

Yup.... What even amazes me more is they SOLAT opener.
  • I haven't been to any other show on this tour but I've seen them many times since 98 and that was the most high energy I've ever seen Eddie and Mike. They were all over the place. Setlist was about as good as you are ever gonna get for a festival.

This! That was the only disappointment of PJ20! Terrible place in the set for it.

The band had such energy and seemed to be having so much fun. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Can't explain how much I loved it.

I stay away from analyzing set lists, counting the number of songs they've repeated (from the prior show), etc. etc. As I say, it's 99% about the artist's performance.

All of that said, I analyze this one, cos this looks like a full-on, bitchin looking set. And the "real fan review reporters," in the audience are saying the band was playing super well.
