Merch Lines

HeisenbergHeisenberg Posts: 4,957
Has it really come to this? Am I hearing correctly that people are setting up empty lawn chairs in an attempt to "hold their place in line" for the merch trailer and then hopping into line whenever they feel like it? What are we children? Are we calling dibs now? Do you really expect anyone to honor this because I sure as hell am not. I'm guessing these are the same people who tried the bullshit number system for GA that the 10C said wouldn't be honored, or the same people who buy $400 worth of merch only to put 75% of it up for sale on eBay.
I can't believe the band, 10c, merch manager, whoever is in charge is allowing this to happen (if they are in fact aware of it). I hope that once they are, they make the same statement that this is not acceptable.
I'm sorry but you don't get to have it all people. If you've made the decision to wait in the GA line to try and get the rail, or if you've made the decision to sit in a bar and drink and eat until the merch line is open, etc. then you've forgone your chance to be ahead of those that have decided to ACTUALLY wait in the merch line instead of having an inanimate object "hold their place" and do the waiting for them.

    this.

Fair warning... In Chicago, I will simply ignore any number "system" placed in front of me and/or walk around place holder chairs. A line is a line.

It is definitely people acting like children. I agree there. The trailer has led to a lot more flipping. People selling stickers for $20+. Just stupid.

I'm buying the $20 sticker/pin sets now. Sure beats standing in line for 3 hours. Sucks but is what it is. Paying $16 more than I need to < 3 hours of my time.

The merch line was a good time in Columbia. Good time spent with good people. I didn't see any lawn chairs near the front of the line there.

Please know this is a joke, but real. I completely agree a chair in line is nuts.
Lol fair warning, in Chicago a chair holds your place for everything ( winter parking spots)

Indeed Craig. Due to my location what else can we do but in some cases go to ebay and pay overs. Yourself and some other mates on here look after me where u can but there is not even an abundance of stickers/pins made available on here as i think people are in some cases awaiting the next gdynia etc.

Like the public could impact oil price by not buying for 24hrs ...if everyone could team up and not buy at one or 2 concerts leaves a huge supply and then we as members regain control and demand merch changes ...such as pre order on 10c as members should be entitled.

But then again this will never happen as the many on here want the next gdynia or benny or red splatter.

Stumped how to change this and what pearl jam or 10c even want.

Back to topic. ...no place holders, no swelling to 10 plus people when near the van,....simple just wait patiently in line for ur turn

    Whatevs. ..this won't be fixed

It would be great if every single person that joined the line simply moved the chairs behind them, so the chairs would always be in their rightful place.....the back of the line.

I agree. Chair hold does not count unless the person gets permission from others in line and is only gone for a short amount of time to use restroom or grab food/drinks for themselve and others in line.

I think the whole thing is crazy. Nobody should have to wait hours outside just to get a t shirt. For people that work or only have a sitter at night, you basically have no chance to get something at face value.

And all this for a sticker or button? It's almost getting at bad as KISS with the merch

This wouldn't be so much of a problem if PJ properly addressed the merchandise situation with extra trailers, cash registers and workers. I don't think the band would have to work that much harder or spend a ton of money to make these changes. The behavior and actions described above are a result of the simple and stone age merchandise approach and planning the band puts forth.

I, by no means, am endorsing some of the stuff fans do for merchandise, but let's be honest about it: People adapt and find ways around cracker jack operations.

I think the band is doing enough to sell merch. They opened a merch truck outside the venue in response to merch lines and requests. The truck sells out of the allocated show merch before the show and the rest sells out inside so they are doing it right.

I trade stuff more than the average fan but even I reocognize that if you want to get the merch you need to be at the show and put in the time.

I mostly agree with you. I just wish they printed more posters. Standing in line for 2+ hours only for the posters to be sold out by the time you make your way to the merch truck...that's kind of lame.

Not kind of lame. It's lame. And easily fixable. Are they scared the demand will decrease if everyone can get one?

I couldn't believe the lines I saw in FTL and Miami. I get it, but the last thing I wanna do before a show is stand in a mile long line. It just seems like the opposite of awesome. I love to pre game and hang with my friends, and just enjoy the whole vibe of the city I'm in. But hey, that's just me.

For some of the stops this tour I'm going solo. Easiest way to meet some fans while in another city apart from the preparty.

Has to have been said before but why not be given the opportunity to buy the merch when you buy your ticket? ONE (1) Bag of swag per 10c ticket.Do it online and mail the goods. It would max sales and cut down lines. That would leave the merch at the shows to locals or flippers or 10c members that need 3 more posters for friends...want to hoard, you get to wait in a smaller line perhaps.

If someone is paying why not spend a day in a queue if you've the time?

On the other hand paying someone to queue...for me, that's off in so many ways

If you buy tickets to the show through 10c, it includes a poster. The end...
