Leash in Toronto : 20+ years since played in Canada

My White Whale. For me this would be equivalent to seeing Fugazi play Waiting Room in a warehouse and being asked by a fellow in a wheelchair if I would crowd surf...as we were both losing our minds...and then being scolded by Ian Mackaye for doing so :) I promise not to crowd surf my old bones around :)

First Fugazi show memory + First live leash. From North Bay for Scott, Jon, Kelly (RIP) & Jason (who first played me PJ) to delight in our youth ...that will never end :)

First time played in Canada was in Toronto... 24 years, 1 month, and 8 days.

04/04/92 - Concert Hall: Toronto, Ontario [68m]
set: Oceans, Even Flow, Why Go, Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, State of Love and Trust, Once, Porch, Breath, Happy Birthday, Leash
notes: During 'Porch,' Ed climbs up onto the balcony and starts working his way all the way around the venue on the edge of the balcony. About 3/4 of the way around, two security guards grab him and pull him off the edge. They don't realize who he is, thinking he is a fan climbing. When they realize their error, they let him go. Ed stands on the edge of the balcony and then drops down onto the crowd below - quite a drop but they catch him! Then he "swims" to the stage, picks up the mic and says, "I can do ... whatever the fuck I want!" 'Happy Birthday' is sung to Mike. Ed introduces Henry Rollins and someone (tour manager, Eric Johnson) looking and dressing very much like Henry comes on stage. "Henry" has a huge happy face drawn on his back with magic marker.

While looking a little deeper came across some footnotes about the Canadian Leash debut in Toronto... I think these kind of notes (like in forum fan view summaries) should be included in main show/song archive. Second part of what Ed says is basically: "And so can you..."

This is my White Whale as well. I am hoping you get it too. I have been chasing this song for years. The fact that they have performed it 3 times so far this tour gives us some hope. I am really hoping to get this in either night of Wrigley. Best of luck. Cheers.

Wow after seeing so many great emotional dedications in Quebec with powerful stories I almost don't feel my OP description was worthy ...but certainly this memory and this song brings powerful feelings of joy for me. First Fugazi show memory + First live leash with for Jon, Kelly & Jason (who first played me PJ) to delight in our youth ...that will never end :)

I really hope you get it tonight bud. As I am really hoping I get this song in Wrigley either night this year. This song has been at the top of my list to catch live for a very long time, and just like Canada it has only been played once in Chicago 22+ years ago! I think it's due for a run. I have been chasing this song for years and always seem to miss it by a show or 2. This song means quite a bit to me too. And the boys do such a phenomenal job performing it. 3 epic performances so far this year, so it gives me some hope that we will both get it seeing that the stats are pretty much the same. Good luck tonight bud. Cheers. Drop the leash.

Agreed. That opening bass line doesn't get mentioned enough. 0 to 100 in 3 seconds

Sorry you struck out bud. you still have two more outs at Toronto. Don't know if you are making the trip out there. I surely hope they are not putting leash back in the vault. I still have my fingers crossed for Wrigley.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I have been chasing those lines for years now. Always miss it by a couple of shows every year. I am still hoping to get it either night in Wrigley. Another city with a 22 year drought on that song. And only played once there as well. Delight in our youth.
