Have to Miss Columbia - Emergency Situation -

My wife is newly pregnant and got into a car accident yesterday. She has an emergency ultrasound this afternoon. We were supposed to go to tonight's show but now that's off.

Any ideas on recovering the loss of my two 10C tickets or am I pretty much screwed based on their no-transfer/no-refund policy? Thanks for info and tips.

Thanks for the well wishes. She's okay with no injuries. They did ultrasound at ER and saw heartbeat so we're happy. But going to our fertility specialist today for full checkup and review.

Dude, call 10c. They will understand. Circumstances beyond your control for sure.

Scary situation for sure. Prayers for you and your family.
  • I hope all goes well. My wife cant make show and has 2 GA tickets - we in a Atlanta so cannot simply pick up the tickets and sell (at face) to a fan. We called and emailed the 10C - they aren't having any of it - even after the cancellation of the Raleigh show we pleaded with them that a 10C member that got shut out there would love to have these tickets. They said no exceptions. Good luck.

Dude, call 10c. They will understand. Circumstances beyond your control for sure.

10c doesn't give a shit about us or our emergency circumstances, so I'd save the effort.

ChadsStillAlive, I'm sorry for the accident and wish your wife a speedy recovery. Bummer about the show as well. I had to have emergency surgery the day of the 2013 Seattle show. I gave the guy who was supposed to go with me to the show a photocopy of my drivers license, my ticket confirmation email from 10c, and a copy of the email I wrote to 10c asking that my buddy be able to pick up my tickets for me, since I was sitting in the hospital. He took the stuff to the 10c ticket window at the venue and got shut down. But those are the rules and they'll abide by the letter. No compassion or empathy. It's cool for the band to bail on their obligations to fans, but the club makes no concessions for changes initiated from the other side of the equation.

Maybe this wouldn't be the case if your fellow 10c members didn't abuse the transfer rules back in the day.....

Best of thoughts to ChadsStillAlive and his wife.

I'm sure that's true, and I understand the reason for the rule. But there are often exceptions made to rules, and I would think having a doctor's note, or a police report (if it was an accident), or some form of documentation would allow 10c to use their critical thinking skills and make circumstantial decisions. But that would require effort and would require shits be given.

That's a little harsh. Like Indifference said, I think this used to be abused quite badly back in the day. How do they know that your buddy wasn't going to take the tickets, sell them for a mint, and split the cost with you? I know that obviously wasn't your intention, but unfortunately the actions of a few made it worse for everyone.

But yeah, they won't transfer or give you your money back. They will, however, at the OP's blessing. donate the tix to somebody in need, or upgrade somebody who's sitting in the rafters. So at least you can feel good about making somebody's night.

  • There is a very easy solution for the 10C here - offer the ticket(s) to members leading up to the show (1 week prior?), 1st come 1st serve (rather than the ability to directly transfer to anyone you want) - sort of a 2nd chance at the show, and if no takers the original purchaser has to keep. Abusers obviously would risk membership. This easy solution makes even more sense since THEY CANCELLED THE SHOW PRIOR TO THIS. There are a lot of 10C members that did not plan on coming to the Columbia but are now.

I had emergency back surgery 2 weeks before Wrigley and I contacted them and explained that I could not travel because of the surgery. They didn't care and didn't do anything. Member since 98 and never asked for anything, they didn't care. I almost cancelled my membership. But, I am a big fan. So, I just wrote the money off
