I think the blue hat/socks is much better than Orange. Too much of the same orange around the player

I admit it's growing on me. The orange brightens up the print and the blue adds a little contrast. Such a nice print IMO

All of the variants have blue socks/hat, the original pic was wrong

Where did he state that the socks and hat would be blue, and his pic with the orange socks and hat was wrong? He should have never put up that pic with the orange pics and hat, if that was the case.
He didn't state it, somebody who received one of the variants sent him a note to check if there was a variant variant.
Gotcha. It still should have been what he posted (pic) up for sale. I have no dog in the fight, didn't order one. But there are people out there very displeased over not receiving what they expected, and were shown to be buying, can't blame them. And quiet a few that received them damaged. This whole AP of this print has been a fiasco it seems for Steve, hate to see this happening to him.

I'm gonna guess that Thomas made an executive decision and changed the color scheme after probably not liking the orange mock up on the variant.

  • My Thomas variant arrived with some edge damage as well. Not as bad as the photos posted, but it's still there. The problem is the kraft paper he's rolling these in is about 19" inches wide, barely covering the width of the poster and the tubes are 24" long, so there's a lot of space for it to bang around during shipping and since the poster is basically the width of the paper, the poster gets dinged up super easy.

I have a feeling he's gonna get a lot of emails.

If you look back in this thread you'll see I received a damaged Bonnaroo as well. This is the second print I've bought from him and the second print I've received damaged. To ship a print out this way is 100% unacceptable. Some of the issues with mine look like they were there before shipping ...

It makes no sense. These are completely avoidable situations. Just buy kraft that is long enough for the tubes you're using.

I ordered the Steve Thomas Fenway Variant, too- and now I am a bit concerned if I get some damages, too.
It lasts one week or a little longer, until the poster tube reaches my home in Germany.
It would be good to know, that more people here got a mint condition from Steve and post it here.

There is an eBay auction right now, where the seller made a picture from the poster with the kraft paper, and there the kraft paper should have more than 20" (which would protect the poster much better than the 19" someone posted here yesterday).

Got my Ames regular AP green monster/horse combo yesterday. One end of the tube was dented in and the cap just jammed in the end like it had fallen out during shipping or delivery. Luckily the posters were fine. There was plenty of paper at the ends of both sides of the posters. If the posters were wider then I would have been screwed. The tubes felt very sturdy too, but the end caps were cheapest flimsiest I've ever seen. And the caps were held on by only 1 piece of tape. For the price I paid for the Faile variant, that thing better come in bomb proof tube...

Yea, I can live with my edge damage but I feel bad for the people who get seriously mangled prints. Not saving copies for damage/loss claims is complete amateur hour.

I've ordered two Thomas AP's before, wasn't able to get this one, both had the slightest room for error in terms of the size of kraft paper used. I was lucky none arrived damaged, I hope he changes up his packing methods for next time, he does great work.

I would hope he changes it before he ships out the 300 regular AP's. Going to be a lot of refunds over the variant it seems, especially with no replacements available. And yes, Steve does some amazing work.
