The Pearl Jam 2016 Poster Experience!

yep, Bottleneck offers some great artists, but their poster drops usually sell out in seconds (much like other AP drops from artists like Sperry, Emek and Stout). These instant sellouts make me appreciate 10C's poster sales more, as at least we have "somewhat of a chance" to buy online if we miss prints at the show or A/P drops."How do afford your rock 'n roll lifestyle?"- Cake0

Why? What would a extra $100 be? Nothing when your willing (or dumb enough) to spend that much for that poster?lotsalemon said:

Can i just say this and i do like it. But why have these gig posters become so complex and detailed. Take me back to the 90s anyday where i could get a unicorn driving a hotrod or similar
I feel everyone is trying to hard0 -
Yeah, the really detailed ones are cool occasionally. But the strange, what am I looking at, its ugly but I love it posters are the best. I like simple ones that pop too though.Release EV said:Can i just say this and i do like it. But why have these gig posters become so complex and detailed. While the art of both of his posters has been great and really detailed, the descriptions on the back seem to be missing the point. I think the original intention of the print on the back was to talk about the inspiration for the art and how it ties into Pearl Jam, the city, venue, song/album inspiration. Not really interested in how long it took to complete.0

Was thinking the same thing. Don't need the detailed bill of work, would like to know why a lion - or make me believe it's more than "I like lions." Wish there's more story to it - or just write about something completely off topic.kasedoug said:While the art of both of his posters has been great and really detailed, the descriptions on the back seem to be missing the point. That being said, I really do like the detailed work. I love the MSG print earlier this year and hope to see more of his stuff in the rotation.0 -
What I got from him saying how long it took was that he really cared about what he was doing and he wanted to get that point across.0
-
It's a pretty fuckin' rad poster. Now all I have to be able to do is actually buy one at the show (unlike last week at Ride when they sold out almost immediately).0
-
I like the pen and ink version on the back but it gets lost when the colour is added. So close yet so far on this one.Anything you lose from being honest
You never really had to begin with.
Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it.0 -
AJ Masthay had an open studio event on July 9th. I believe the one sold on eBay was bought there.MickeyMouse said:
I dunno. It's possible he's lying about not getting it at the show, or he got it from AJ, or a friend of AJs, or the printer, or something else. But the gallery doesn't have their copies yet, so to me it's a leap to assume he got it from the gallery in a back door deal and has it in hand already, which he obviously does.tempo_n_groove said:
Oh! My bad.MickeyMouse said:
I'm failing to see your point as it relates to my post. I'm not doubting that people are selling AJ's prints on eBay, I'm doubting that the person who already has a foil copy in his possession got it from the gallery in a "back door" deal, which is what people are implying.tempo_n_groove said:

I doubt the guy selling the foil got it from the gallery. He already has it in hand and the gallery doesn't have their copies yet. Not to mention he's never sold anything else released by them before so it's a stretch to assume that IMO.tempo_n_groove said:
Absolutely. I tried for Dead 50 posters on there and nothing...EM194007 said:
That's what said last night in different words, after I messaged the person who had the lava one up on ebay yesterday. And he told me he didn't get it at the show. Figured they were flying out the back door.tempo_n_groove said:
This site is NOTORIOUS for having things sold out.EM194007 said:Instantly sold out. Something fishy going on, IMO. Especially with they were on evilbay yesterday.
Check eBay in a little while and see how many are being sold by art dealers.
This game is rigged fellas!
Pulled this from the tag "art dealers"...
If he didn't get it from the gallery and had it in hand already then how did he get it?
My only point is really to just consider the many, many other ways he could have it other than "gallery is shady because their prints sell out". Prints sell out because they're for massively popular bands and 1000s try to get their hands on dozens of copies. Also bots.
