    I'm totally in favor of feminism. Heck, I'd even like to try being a woman for a while if I could do it magically and turn back at will. I would not suffer in a matriarchal society, however, an equal but distinct is probably the best way to go. You know, the Mars and Venus thing.

    I do not support equality, neither do most people probably.

    I support egalitarianism, the state of equal opportunity, instead of equal status.


    That being said i do not believe we live in an egalitarian society, and i would like to change that.

    The Ghostbusters remake was going to bomb whether the primary cast is female or not. Even Ghostbusters 2 was a pale imitation of the original. This simply looks like a slapstick knockoff of the first film with 1990s special effects. Hollywood needs to stop making poor remakes of 1980s movies and start looking at making more original films rather than milking outdated properties for all they're worth. No actors could make this steaming pile of tripe look good.

    I started this thread because I was reading some entertainment news a few days ago and there were a lot of headlines and such about this movie being a feminist act.
    It brought up a good point that if an original movie with an all woman cast was remade with an all male crew it would be sexist.
    Feminism is great and any fool who regards a woman as anything less than equal is an asshole sexist pig. I truly believe people are equal. (Except for some women.....I kid)

    Anyhow, sometimes a feminist statement can backfire and this movie is an example. Casting all women to replace the original all male cast is weird.

    The idea of talking about feminism seems great but couldn't we have based it around something more relevant than (no matter how good or bad it is) a move like Ghostbusters?

    no.. its gonna bomb regardless of gender because theyre trying to remake a classic the moment bill murray declined to be involved in any sort of remake was the moment film makers should have said hmmm perhaps this is a bad idea.

    yes, I agree. Remakes of any classic at best are a bad idea.
